WOOD- Work Blog Week 6

This week our group as a whole was quite productive. My contribution this week began on Monday, August 16th, when I sent out an e-mail to the group to coordinate a time when we could all get on the group chat. It has been difficult for us to all get together at the same time because one of our members has work during opposite hours than the rest of us do. We determined that we would get on the group chat page on Tuesday night at 6pm, and the member that could not meet would look over what we accomplished and make any changes necessary on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, when we tried to log into the page only one member could get into it, so I sent out an e-mail with an alternative suggestion. I suggested we sign onto AOL Instant Messenger and create a chat room on that service since the group chat page has been unreliable. As each member signed on, I sent them an invitation to the chat room I had set-up for us. This worked very well and allowed us to exchange ideas in an organized manner since each member’s type was his or her own unique color. I made a suggestion about how I thought the layout of the brochure we were putting together would run, and another group member had the very same idea so we went with it.

Next, we exchanged ideas about the design, layout, variety, and content of the brochure. I suggested we do an assembly-line set-up on the brochure, where someone starts it and then passes it along until it is finished. Another group member started it and then passed it to me. I created the Volunteer section of our brochure, and also had to rearrange the order of information because by mistake it had been placed backwards. I then passed the brochure on to the next group member, being sure to send regular e-mails out about what had been done to keep everyone updated.

Lastly, this week it was my turn to e-mail Professor Tirrell with the Group Activity Report. Our group is alternating weeks so that the work is divided evenly.
