Peppler- Work Blog Week #6

Our main focus for this week was to design a brochure both with visual and contextual components. Fortunately, every member of our group was able to meet with the others a number of times this week, so we were presented with a better opportunity to formulate some ideas for the project. Our first order of business was to designate different parts that were to be written by each member. I was assigned to write about the history of the Community and Family Resources Center, Suzanne was in charge of writing about the Christmas day dinner, Megan wrote about other volunteering opportunities, and David wrote about cash donation policies. During that same meeting, we start to conjure up some ideas of how we wanted this brochure to look. We decided to use a dark red background with gold text. We chose these two colors because we tried to have a Christmas theme in mind. We also tried to decide on which pictures we wanted to include to appropriately match our text.
The next meeting, we each had our specified text written, so the other members started to revise and make sure there were no spelling or grammatical errors. When we decided we were content with the way everything looked, we placed our brochure with its contents in to a Microsoft Publisher document. When I was designing the brochure I, with the help of the group, tried to meticulously place information where I thought it would fit best, and choose appropriate pictures to coincide with the context. Each group member helped in this process. Overall, I feel we got a great deal accomplished this week, and we are on the right track with this assignment.
