STUDTMAN Work Blog Week 6

This week we actually started our project and got the ball rolling. We started out the week by reviewing our Gantt chart and began working on our assigned materials. We have kept the lines of communication open quiet well and we are still effectively using email as our main source.

Meepa, Rachel, and Beth were all assigned different parts of research and were to email me their summaries. As the week began the summaries were emailed to me and they were a great start. I think all of my group members did a good job on choosing the appropriate tone and a good length. We have already discussed several changes we may do, such as reevaluating the conciseness of the material and adding bullet points.

My assignment was to take the information given to me and begin creating the drafts. I started over the weekend and began storyboarding ideas of brochures on paper. From there, I opened up Microsoft Publisher and started getting a feel for exactly how to use the program. I quickly realized it was similar to a design program I used in my high school yearbook class called inDesign. This will be a good program, but it can be very tedious to line up everything in the page. Once I started to get a feel for it, I put together a basic skeleton structure of our brochure. Once I posted the initial copy of our composition our group quickly looked it over and we constructively criticized it.

So far we have come up with some good ideas and I look forward to implementing them in our next draft.
