SANCHEZ Work Blog Week #7

We started out the week by critiquing our first draft of the project. Ryan gave Steve and I some very helpful tips on how to make the general brochure more effective. The first thing I did was tone down the shade of the colors I was using. Looking back on it now, it did seem like it was more of a cartoon than information for the humane society.
There was a picture of a couple cats I incorporated on the back cover. I tried to make it fit within the border I created but after receiving Ryan’s comment about it, I took it out and found a new, more useful picture. I also tried my best to fill in the blank spaces that were throughout the brochure. Going along with the design I had, the use of geometric shapes and colors really helped me accomplish this. Under the mission statement section, I took out the image of the golden retriever and added in a picture that would take up the whole width of the section so it would help balance out the overall format. I also did the same thing with the paw prints under the “How you can help” section. Like Ryan was saying, it was throwing off the alignment and needed to be in a better position which is why I moved it to the bottom. Overall, I am very pleased with how the revisions of both brochures went and expect the same thing again for the second round of revisions.
