This week our main mission was to revise our brochure to provide more information and persuasion to potential volunteers who could help with the Community and Family Resource Center’s Christmas dinner. We received feedback from our instructor that caught us off guard. He even suggested that we try to refocus and have a fresh start. At first, we seemed discouraged, but we feel it actually helped us in the long run. Since we were criticized so heavily, we were able to refocus our attention on one main point rather than many. We spent a fair amount of time adjusting our text to show better persuasion, and to show that the brochure was for the Christmas dinner and not just for the Community and Family Resource Center. Also, we tried to tap into the emotions of the reader by directing the text toward them. If the reader feels the brochure was directed to them personally, they will get much more out of it. We did this by, rewriting our text, like indicated already, as well as adding more pictures and imagery that would really put the reader in the holiday mood. All group members were readily available this week. If they were unable to meet in the group discussion, they actively did their part by providing their feedback to the rest of the group. This week was very beneficial for our group, and we took a huge step in the right direction from our progress previously.
