The purpose and audience of this pod-cast is to help people going to or throwing dinner parties to be up on the current news and culture. The context is in a lay back, funny, tone. All information comes across as a informal informational session. The medium is an audio mp3 file found free online. Arrangement is first going through the parts of the dinner party starting with the icebreaker and ending with the food. One strategy that they use is fitting everything into 10 min. They answer questions and have guests to add interest.

Do you find this pod-cast to be helpful in gaining knowledge and edge if you were going out with friends?

Dinner Party

I agree that having a shorter time is an excellent strategy for podcasts. This allows the listener to better focus on the important points of the information being presented. Allowing the context to be presented in a funny manner keeps the listener interested and also helps you remember parts of the show.

Although changing to different topics keeps you interested, I think that they went a little too fast on some of the topics. In a way it seemed as though they just put as many topics as they could fit into ten minutes, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I think that this podcast definitely gives you some topics that you could discuss at your next dinner party. This of course will depend on the audience of your dinner party, as some people might not find some of the topics appropriate, even if they are funny.

I completely agree. Some of

I completely agree. Some of the topics presented would not appeal to every audience. I kind of liked the idea behind this pod-cast, but again also agree about their pace. I don't have patience for long pod-casts. I get so bored, so I had to pick something that kept my attention, and even with only 10 minutes I found my mind wondering off... Overall I thought this pod-cast illustrated good rhetoric.

Dog Joke

I think it's a great idea, you just have to hope that no one else at the party listens to the same podcast. You can only hear the same lame joke about a dog so many times before you begin to wonder how original the story teller is. Does anyone do dinner parties anymore? In Indiana at least...

Dinner Party

The intended audience did confuse me somewhat for this podcast. It was very unclear to me of whether this dinner party was intended to be very formal or if it was a laid back setting. The topics chosen to be discussed and food choices for this podcast seemed to be more formal than the actual podcast where they were telling jokes and talking in a very non-formal matter. This pod-cast would probably not benefit me in any way because I would not bring up any of these topics.
