Maximum Overdrive Limit EX 4

I think that in terms of the intended audience, it does in fact provide a good alternative to the television show. Because the audience would generally know what the commentators are talking about, very little would be lost in the experience apart from facial expressions or newsclips.

However, to someone not very savvy on sports like myself, I feel that I would better benefit from the television show. They may mention someone and I would have no idea who it is, and the television show might display a picture of the said person--something I would be without on a radio-type program such as this.

Your entire life has been a mathematical error. A mathematical error I'm ABOUT TO CORRECT.

Response for PTI

podarcze — Thu, 09/25/2008 - 21:36

Watching ESPN religiously, I think that this show has a little bit more purpose as a television show instead of a podcast because when this show is on television they show highlights that happened and they discuss if they were the right things to do. The two analyzers tend to talk about what happened in sports the day before. This is very important to show clips. When they want to talk about a play that decided a game, the person listening to this would be deprived of details of the actual play unless they saw the game the night before because the two announcers of the podcast do not describe the actual play as much as they analyze it. I could see this being useful if someone also accompanied this by watching sportscenter. I watch sportscenter in the mornings so this podcast would work for me because I already saw the plays that they are talking about.

I have seen this on television before, and, like the others, I feel that TV is a much better medium for this broadcast. It does work as a podcast, but some elements are certainly missing or out of place. For one, the sports clips—and even just pictures of the people talked about—greatly add to a listener's understanding. Another problem with this audio version: if the commentators are talking about Chicago, for example, without visual cues, how do listeners know whether they mean the Cubs, the White Sox, or the Bears? Lastly, without having seen the show before, with a countdown timer for each subject, the bell signaling the end of that section seems completely random.

I watch PTI on a daily bases due to the content and the interaction between the hosts. The content is the same for ever news source. Either from newspaper, online articles, or on a standard news show. PTI is special because the hosts argue and debate the sports news to make it more entertaining than really what it is. This is done mostly by, body language and facial expression. Pod cast does have its positives and negatives, but in the long run PTI bring the sports to life to the audience on televison.

This is pretty much how I

This is pretty much how I feel as well. As far as entertainment goes, the podcast still works. Personally I find it fun to listen to, but I know what the hosts look like, and can imagine in my mind what they might be doing while they are talking. The playful bickering back and forth between the hosts is what makes this show so entertaining, but they never lose sight of their objective to inform the listener about what happened in sports. On television they have clips, ques, effects, pictures, pretty much everything they need to help get their point across. The podcast isn't specifically written to be a podcast, they just take the audio from the television show and podcast it. The audio for this podcast is meant to be supplemented with visual aspects, and it just isn't. While it still works, it doesn't work nearly as well as it does in a television format.
