LazerJ1 — Fri, 09/26/2008 - 17:00I think that the beginning of the podcast was funny at first, but then was a little too slow getting into the material that was being presented. If they had cut down the beginning a little bit it would be much more effective. The rest of the podcast is loosely structured which helps keep it interesting.
The two hosts discuss various movies that are being released. During the course of the podcast the hosts give their opinion about various movies. However, it seems at times as they are somewhat shallow in their reviews. Sometimes it seems as though they haven't planned out what they're going to say on the show, which could be good or bad.
My thoughts
Pat — Sat, 09/27/2008 - 19:43I lost interest in the beginning of the podcast when they weren't talking about anything. It didn't have anything to do with DVDs or games except the brief thing about the Lego game. It was a very loosely organized podcast.
I had a hard time paying
sdr2010 — Mon, 09/29/2008 - 08:47I had a hard time paying attention for those same reasons. It was almost easier to turn this on and do other work in the background. To say the least, I got very little out of it. If you're going to give the weather forecast (completely out of context considering the title of the show) at least tell us which city you're talking about!
At the start of the program
noles32 — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 15:28At the start of the program the two hosts discuss the weather for an extended amount of time. Based on a loosely structure program this tactic could possible hinder the effectiveness towards the audience. Listening to this program blindly without knowing the provided design plan elements, I would turn off this podcast show because, of lack of content and no real uniform introduction with names of the hosts or name of the program. The first minute of the podcast is important to capture the audience and keeping their interest. Discussing the weather (where it's probably different where I'm located) seems irrelevant to the content of the show.
In addition, the reviews of new released games and DVD's lacked depth and analysis from my perspective. One host didn't even say much to the effect of just agreeing with the other host and had no opinion.
I have to agree with that you
NEWMAN — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 18:43I have to agree with that you that the first minute is where you need to catch the attention of your audience. Maybe if the hosts decided to do a quick run through of what they were going to cover throughout the podcast then they could hook some people into listen to the entire thing. Also, I agree that just not listening to the podcast would be the best choice for someone. This is almost to informal and the hosts are practically having a conversation just between them and not caring for the audience at all.
I'm not Billy Mays but I'll sell this product to you anyway.
Doomsday Forte — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 18:44What a jaunty little tune at the start.
Sounds like it comes from a radio show. I also agree on the slow ball rolling start. Reminds me of the homebrewcast I submitted, except this is backwards--it takes forever starting up, whereas the one I submitted took forever to actually end.
...I kinda hate these guys already. "SAHWEEEEEEET!!" Kill me.
Because I want to do a podcast similar to this, I do want to base my cast on what these guys are doing...except, I don't necessarily want to ramble on needlessly. Being a one-man show, that should be somewhat easy to avoid.
It doesn't seem to be too bad. It is a little dry with it being the two of them, and apart from the sections, there isn't much to be had with the voices. It's just me though, since I never listen to radio shows as it is, and their voices are somewhat similar too.
Your entire life has been a mathematical error. A mathematical error I'm ABOUT TO CORRECT.

DVD
PyroJing — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 22:32The people hosting this podcast don't seem to be of the core audience, and they ramble too much at the beginning. As I say with many other DVD news, they should really change the name to incorporate Blu-Ray, especially this one that also talks about video games. They are funny and talk about some very obscure titles. Overall they do a decent job at showing the DVDs, but they should have kept the weather outside. This could do much better with imagery rather than just audio, especially listing off the obscure movies. Because of this, I'd rather watch DVDuesday on the AOTS.
I think this podcast is very
Cookz — Sun, 09/28/2008 - 23:29I think this podcast is very informative. It clearly explains what is coming out and when it is come out as far as DVD releases go. However, I think it gets into too much detail. Talking about how many disks are being released with the title doesn't seem relevant to me, who cares how many disks are being released with it? Of course, some people might care so maybe I'm just not the correct target audience. The hosts seem very into what they are doing, which is good, it makes the podcast more interesting to listen to. As far as the question goes, I'm not sure that it makes that much of a difference. I think the people that listen to this podcast already know what they are getting in the podcast. But seeing as the weather isn't relevant to the podcast, perhaps it shouldn't be in there.
