Question: Do you find the podcast more effective the way the program is structure more scripted than loosely?
More scripted s better
Roachel — Tue, 09/30/2008 - 21:56I think that this podcast is more effective with a scripted program because the audience is listening in to hear specific news about sports and it is easier to concentrate on what they are saying when they are speaking in a more direct way. Even though it is scripted, they do keep the podcast entertaining because they will go off on a couple tangents which usually tend to be funny. The tangents they go off on are pretty short and sweet, and then they go back on track to what the next topic is. This technique keeps the flow of things without getting too boring.
I agree with you Roachel
noles32 — Tue, 09/30/2008 - 23:14I agree with you Roachel 100%. Having a sports news podcast that is scripted is more beneficial for the program and the audience. Sports news you want to make sure that certain issues are address and given the proper time frame for the topic at hand. The hosts do a great job of going off the topic a little so the material is not so concentrated to where it becomes dry. I did find it odd however, in this scripted program that the hosts never mention the final scores of any of the games, except one.

boiler16 — Tue, 09/30/2008 - 23:22I think that this podcast is very effective in the scripted manner that has been chosen. This program is a way you can get information on the sports from the previous night without having to watch TV all day. They do a great job in sharing a great deal of information in the time they have given to do the program. Without a script, this would be impossible. They know exactly the time that needs to be spent on each subject and makes the program flow. If there were no script, I'm sure it would seem chaotic and people wouldn't get as much out of the podcast.
Scripted podcast is better
Xwing328 — Wed, 10/01/2008 - 09:24I think the podcast is structured very well being scripted. If it was looser, I don't think it would go over very well, and many key sports facts would most likely be accidentally left out. Since on the TV version of this show, it is pretty much set up as a radio talk show to begin with, the audio format works very well and definitely reaches its intended of sports fans. A question for you: can this audience be narrowed down any more?
