Purpose: The purpose of this podcast is to provide the latest news in the world of Nintendo. The latest game info such as in this one WiiMusic, Captain Rainbow, Megaman 9, and others, as well as the upcoming E For All conference.
Audience: The audience would be any member of the NSider2 member, the unofficial successor to the Nintendo Nsider forum, who want the site's views on the latest Nintendo news.
Context: The context would be someone browsing on Nsider2 wanting to have some audio news through a stream or download.
Medium: The medium for this podcast is an mp3 file that can downloaded or streamed.
Strategies: The keep the thing very casual, and talk very "Nintendo nerdish" to relate more to the audience, doing this by talk about Nintendo in only a way Nintendo fans could appreciate. The file can be streamed or downloaded so it can be listened to on your media player or from your computer.
Arrangement: Usually they will do an introduction, but this one they jumped right in and talked about some random things about their Nintendo games, then jump into the episode content, talking about what they are going to talk about, then talking about some games and reviews, then to the conference, and back to games.
Question: Do you think this podcast does a good job targeting it's audience by being casual, or do you think it could have been better by cutting it down to the main core content?
For shame, there is no Link to the Past!
Doomsday Forte — Tue, 09/30/2008 - 23:09I mean it too. But I'll comment anyway.
The podcast is quite a lot like what I want to do, so I'm kinda having second thoughts. But about this podcast, I think the casual feel does help a little bit since I don't think having a cut-and-dry format would really help gamers. Gamers themselves aren't very professional people--the Homebrewcast I posted was made by gamers for gamers, hence it being rather disjointed and informal to the max. But also, amateurs.
Jumping straight into the content could be bad (this time around) since people need to prepare for listening, and it going right into it can jar people.
Your entire life has been a mathematical error. A mathematical error I'm ABOUT TO CORRECT.

I think the casual approach
PyroJing — Wed, 10/01/2008 - 08:14I think the casual approach suits the audience, I know if I wanted just the news, I'd read it from one of my gaming news sites, but if I were listening to something like this I would want it to be like if I were to have a conversation with them. Not listening to many Podcast I'm not sure how to judge it, but from just listening I think it does an overall good job providing the info, I learned many new things after listening to this Podcast, things I wouldn't hear about till much later like the info on Captain Rainbow and how it probably will never see States side or the fact you can unlike an ocarina in WiiMusic. My biggest complaint would come from the site hosting it, you can't easily skip around in the stream, and if you pause it will start the podcast over.
