Is the final draft due

NEWMAN — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 10:18

Is the final draft due electronically or as a hard copy?

re: Is the final draft due

jtirrell — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 15:40

The design plan and postmortem should be printed. The data map should be in its intended final format, as the Project 1 page states: "A student's data map may be delivered in a print, digital, or other format. The map's final format should be appropriate to the student's context, audience, and purpose." If your data map is digital, you will have to burn the file to a CD, or post it online and provide me with the link, or something similar. The point is that your data map should be in its genuine format.

How exactly are we turning

Cookz — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 10:18

How exactly are we turning this in? Printing all the documents out? Posting to a comment with a zipped folder? Burning everything to a CD? Other?

See above.

last question...

s5m32l3 — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 10:19

How do we present our project? Like staple the pages together? Put it in a folder? Do you need a digital copy of our map?

See above.

Final Question

Pat — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 10:19

If we don't have any sources, what do you want us to do for the References section on the Postmortem?

re: Final Question

jtirrell — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 15:47

You can omit that section, but you should have sources. If you have no sources, it is likely that your work is not as strong as it could be.

Question

LazerJ1 — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 10:20

What is the preferred method of project delivery? (i.e. binder, folder, stapled pages, etc)

re: Question

jtirrell — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 15:49

The response to the first question covers this. I would like printed pages bound together, but I have no real preference regarding how this should be done.

Will you be giving us actual

almost famous — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 10:20

Will you be giving us actual feedback on our designs?
Will the grade be based on the design plan or the actual design? or will it be both? How can we maximize our scores?
What are the main points that you are looking for as far as the actual map is concerned?

jtirrell's picture

re: Will you be giving us actual

jtirrell — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 15:50

1. Yes

2. This is covered on the Project 1 page.

3. This is covered on the Project 1 page.

Sourcing

Xwing328 — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 10:20

My Star Wars Family Tree map is based on information people have compiled on a fan site. Would listing the fan site be a specific enough source, or would you like the actual list of "official" movies, books, games, etc. that this information comes from?

jtirrell's picture

re: Sourcing

jtirrell — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 15:52

Listing the site itself is really the only legitimate option. If you used the site, then it is your source, not the films themselves.

project 1 questions

boiler16 — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 13:20

Since my last draft was handwritten, do I still need to scan and post for today since I gave you a hard copy?

What all do I need to have hard copies of when I turn in the final project?

jtirrell's picture

re: project 1 questions

jtirrell — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 15:53

1. No

2. The final design plan and postmortem should be printed. The data map should be in its authentic intended format.

final questions

lefty150 — Fri, 09/19/2008 - 18:18

Do we need to list every website and url address that we used in our project in the postmortem even if it is included on our data map?

jtirrell's picture

re: final questions

jtirrell — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 15:55

Yes, all external resources should be included, and you should summarize what you took from each source.

Final Question

Roachel — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 11:51

My data map is supposed to be an 11 1/2 * 17 size document with lamenation when it is in it's finished state. Is that how I should turn it in?

jtirrell's picture

re: Final Question

jtirrell — Sat, 09/20/2008 - 15:58

Yes, final data maps should be in their authentic intended formats. Large format printing is available in the DLC (Hicks Library, bottom floor). As stated in the course description, the money you save from not purchasing a class textbook is to be used for product production such as this. If it is cost-prohibitive to put your data map in its final format, you will have to address this with me before the due date.

Do we need to turn in all of

noles32 — Sun, 09/21/2008 - 10:56

Do we need to turn in all of our rough drafts along with the final draft?

jtirrell's picture

re: Do we need to turn in all of

jtirrell — Sun, 09/21/2008 - 23:01

No, just final drafts of your design plan, data map, and postmortem on the turn in date.
