Post your initial questions about Project 3 here.

Project 3 Question

boiler16 — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:49

Are we going to have time in class to work on the project or is this the work expected to be done outside of class?

Tasks

Xwing328 — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:48

Is there, say, one person responsible for coding, one for content, one for design, etc., or are we all supposed to work on each part?

Previous work

sdr2010 — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:48

Are there any examples of organizations that are still using student work created in ENGL 419?

Question

Invasion From Within

Doomsday Forte — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:49

How adversely will our grade be affected if we are unable to adequately get the website up and running on the client's server through issues out of our control (such as, the server doesn't support PHP or whatnot)? This is assuming we can get the site up and running elsewhere, just that the client's server is lacking so to speak.

Your entire life has been a mathematical error. A mathematical error I'm ABOUT TO CORRECT.

Website Grading

Cookz — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:49

Will the client be grading and ranking the websites based on a set rubric, or will they do it merely by how much they like each site? If one website is a more static website but has excellent content organization and ease of navigation, and another website is not nearly as well laid out but has outstanding dynamic qualities they may choose the dynamic website over the static website because it looks "cooler".

turtle power! — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:50

If one person is extremely knowledgeable about web design, are you going to pair them up with at least one other person who has a good idea as to what's going on, or are you going to match them up with other people who don't know much about web design/development? Also, where is the website going to be hosted? Will we have to host it during development or are you going to give us server space?

Project 3 Question...

RhythmRunneR — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:49

Are we being assigned groups or do we pick the groups ourselves?

Class Time

Roachel — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:49

Will we be using class time to work on this project with our group, or will we need to get together outside of class to work on the project?

Website Size

cechambe — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:49

On average, how big are the websites we're creating, as in how many pages does one normally require you to create? 10 pages? 20?

website

PyroJing — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:50

How complicated should this website be, is html enough, or should we dive into asp, php, javascript, possibly some flash integration. Then are we basing this on a person with the minimal internet browser or someone with a decent browser with updates to allow advance internet page files.

Project 3 ?

s5m32l3 — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:50

Are you going to give us clients to choose from or is it an open selection?

Project 3

noles32 — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:50

Who's our client for this project? When will we know who's in our group? Are we going to be able to work on this in class?

Project 3 Question

Pat — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:50

Will we be adding onto a current website or creating an original one?

Balancing the teams

islington — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 10:12

What if the class lacks specific types of skillsets? For example, if there are only 2 people who could truly create the web content, or only a few who have worked in photoshop, and so on.

My question

podarcze — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:52

What would happen if the company we are working for just didn't like the way one group designed the webpage? Does that mean that that group fails even if they designed a solid website, but it was just not what they were looking for?

project 3 questions

lefty150 — Mon, 10/27/2008 - 09:52

Can we use Microsoft Front Page to create our website? When will we know the specifications of the software that we can use in this project?

What percentage of points will the groups that are not chosen receive out of the 80% total. I realize that this depends on the client, but what is the average score on project 3 from the past semesters?
