After reading the assigned reading, it has given me a better understand of what to expect for this course. The book covers many areas that will beneficial to my writing skills. The main areas that I am interested in the section that focuses on resumes. This will be helpful to update my resume and also help to correct errors I may have made. The book is going to cover many areas including mainly analyzing different types of documents that are common in the business world. The book will help me also prepare a better cover letter which can help me to obtain a job that I want. The glossary also will be helpful because it gives the reader quick information regarding topics of business writing. The index is also a quick way to search for a specific subject that can quickly provide me with the information I need to write a business document. The book focuses on ways to get a job through resumes and cover letters. I found it interesting that the book covers documents that will be common to an employer such as memos and other documents. The book is very informative and will be something I will hold onto in the future as a reference guide.

Reference guide

The Thomson Handbook is a great reference guide and I will also be keeping this book for future reference. The checklists and examples are great especially because I am a visual learner. Besides the glossary and the index, I also liked the editing symbols in the back of the book. I don't have a list of what the symbols mean and I was glad to see one in this book. Although I knew what most of them meant in high school, I haven't taken an English class for over a year now and this is great if I need to know the meanings. I also like that there is a glossary just for technology and web terms. I don't consider myself a genius when it comes to computers or technology so the glossary might be beneficial to me if I don't know a certain term used in this class.
