Reading response week 1

I expect that this course will help prepare me for what I will have to deal with writing on a daily basis in the corporate world. Since many other classes have emphasized the resume I expect only a brief review before we move on to other topics. I expect the grading in the course to be very clear and that we will be able to check our progress periodically. In other courses I have been able to view my participation grade at least two or three times during the semester to see if it is satisfactory. Something like that would work out great because so much of this grade rides on participation. I also am looking for feedback to what I write and post to the weblog so that I know how I am progressing in the course. This will help me improve my future assignments and work in the real world. I have never been the strongest writer so this is an area I really need to work on. I would hope that I improve my overall writing substantially at the end of the course as well as address specific instances that I may face when I am hired for my first full time job. Since I know that writing is one of my weaknesses I will use this class to try to catch up on some of the writing skills that I have missed in the passed as well as apply them to what I will be doing in my future career. That is one reason that I think I have never been successful before in writing, I never found the relevance to my job. Now that it has become more clear that I will need to improve my writing if I want to be respected and move up in my company I will pay proper attention to this topic.

I was never really strong at writing myself which is why I look forward to taking this course. Going along with what you were saying, I too hope to improve my writing skills dramatically whether it is for schoolwork or business. Reading the instructor’s blogs really put things in perspective for me in that it showed me the overall picture of just how important having professional writing skills really is. I can honestly say for the first time being in school, I am actually excited about taking an English course. We are just barely at the end of the first week and already I have found some blogs that have helped me out with what I have to do at my internship.

importance of writing

I have always thought that if you are not an english or communication major why do you need to take any english course. Now it is all making sense and I am glad to see someone else who has made the same realization. I hope as well that this class will allow us to view participation points and that through our participation we can all strengthen our writing skills. I do hope as well that our grading for each of the projects is very clear and concise seeing as we don't have the opportunity to ask face to face questions. Good luck!

Writing is important no matter in what field we are. I agree with the thought of improving writing through this course. No matter how good we are at writing, no one can ever be perfect. All we can do is practice and practice to improve our skills which makes writing easier and better. This course will make us write allot and hence with the help of classmates and the instructors we shall be ready to face the real world. A very important point you mentioned about being able to check the grades. Even if we don’t know our exact grade, at least a feedback on our progress shall help us allot. That little bit of encouragement does it all. We should know where we are making mistakes and where are we lacking some skills. There is always a scope of improvement. There is a lot that all of us are going to gain from this course.
