I am currently looking for a full time position to start in 2008. The career that sparked my interest was a sales position with a company called Smiths Medical. The position would require working with doctors, nurses, and other health related professionals. It would also require the sales rep to work with clients in the area to ensure they are understading the condition and how to keep it controlled.
I chose this position becuase of two things. I really enjoy the sales environment and I am very passionate about Diabetes in general. After being diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes in 2005, I have a very different outlook. I have always been interested in pharmaceutical sales and would love to get into a profession that I deal with on a daily basis anyway.
I believe I would be a perfect fit for this position. I am diabetic, so I know all of the terminology and background of Diabetes. Since I have done so well with with my diagnosis, I want others to have the same lifestyle. I dont want this condition to be a burden, but have people see it as just part of their life. By this, I mean all of the testing, injections, carb counting, and lifestyle change. It is not an easy thing to deal with, but I want the opportunity to encourage them and stay positive.

I said this elsewhere, but
I said this elsewhere, but it is applicable here. You might consider working your personal medical experiences into an interview. Usually you wouldn't put that information in a resume or a cover letter, but interviewers frequently ask what made you apply for a certain position, or what drew you to a particular field. In your case, it seems as though your personal experiences would be particularly valuable to the company in sales, because you could connect with clients and assist them in pragmatic ways.
