Job Ad Analysis

The position I am looking at for this project is a Financial Representative with Fidelity. I would have to do things such as talking to clients and prospective clients about their financial future and help with any financial questions they have. Some examples would be helping them select mutual funds offered by Fidelity, estate planning for them and their loved ones and also helping them plan for their financial future. One of the main parts of the job is talking to clients and making sure they have an enjoyable time and making sure they know you are educated in the products and services that are offered by Fidelity.

I chose this position because it is directly related to my major and it is the type of job I will be looking for when I graduate. I want to help people and I also have a very strong interest in money and finance so this will be a perfect job for me. Another reason I chose this is because it is in Texas and I have never been to Texas so I would get to experience living in a brand new place and getting to enjoy some independence. I also like the fact that they offer mutual funds through Fidelity so you are kind of a salesperson and not only an advisor. At other companies they don't sell their own brand of products and I would like to work at a company where I can learn some valuable sales techniques and will also help me learn more about the financial markets.

The main reason I think I am qualified is because this job is directly correlated to my college major. This means I will have a lot of knowledge of the financial world when I graduate and I will be able to start working with clients soon after I start and I won't require much training. It also says they are looking for individuals with creative thinking abilities and who are innovative. I am very innovative and I also am able to think of new ways to do something that others might not think of. With all of the classes I have taken and will take and all of the knowledge I have gained outside of the classroom I am more than qualified for this job and to make sure I excel at it and make the company better.

Great position

I like your description and I like your confidence, though you'll want to present that confidence very carefully in your employment materials. Much of that has to do with the difference between being aggressive and assertive. Demonstrate all your competency and convey your confidence through your writing, but don't tell the company that you're more than qualified. First, they don't want someone overqualified, and secondly, many, many qualified people will probably apply for a position like this. It's also important how you present your determination to make the company better. You don't want to sound like you think the company sucks and that you're going to fix it, but you also don't want to be self focused. It's a delicate balance. I talk more about this in the instructor blog on cover letters. I'm glad to see that you're confident and excited.
