This position is for a hedge fund accountant with one of the biggest capital management firms in the world with respect to the amount of capital they manage. I am particularly interested in this position since it caters to both the fields that I want to specialize in i.e. Accounting and Finance. Also, from my research of the company, the potential for growth in this firm is tremendous and I think, if chosen this is the perfect time to start a career with this firm.
I chose this specific position since it will help me achieve my short term goal of obtaining a CPA while at the same time, helping me understand the financial markets as I do plan on moving onto finance few years after I start off my career in Accounting. The firm seems to be a perfect fit for my personality. It strives for excellence but at the same time runs itself in a relaxed and laid back environment. The job description gives me an idea that this position will definitely help me learn a lot which is very important to me at this time. It will also help me polish my analytical and communication skills.
I feel that I am qualified for this position for numerous reasons. I have a strong interest in the financial markets and my understandings of concepts applied in this job are second to none. My experience as a teaching assistant and tutor for various accounting courses and my projects do give me an edge in preparing for my interview on Monday. I think my communication skills and strive for excellence makes me a great candidate for this position.

HBK Capital Management manages an established, global, multi-strategy hedge fund with approximately $14 billion in capital. Headquartered in Dallas, the firm has offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo and employs over 350 individuals.
The team is responsible for the coordination and review of financial statements for an established, successful, and growing multi-strategy hedge fund with a complex global organization. We manage income allocation to investors, cash management of investor flows, intricate consolidations, and a monthly close. The team also works closely with a large Trade Settlement group responsible for daily fund operations, reconciliation, and reporting. The group is proactive; both in improving its own processes and in helping the fund make efficient investments. We work with traders, tax, legal, and audit advisors to help structure deals. We also monitor and comment on proposed rule changes that could impact our business.
HBK is searching for extraordinary accountants to join its fund and partnership accounting team in Dallas. The ideal candidate is a highly intelligent, flexible, self-motivated individual with strong verbal and written communication skills. He or she has a demonstrated track record of educational, professional, and personal achievement, including Bachelors and Masters degrees in Accounting, Business, or Finance from a top-tier university. Those who have demonstrated their technical knowledge by passing the CPA exam are strongly preferred. He or she also has creative critical thinking skills and attention to detail. Hedge fund experience is not a prerequisite, but a strong interest in financial markets is a must. Positions are currently open at both junior and senior levels.
