Job Ad Analysis - EMT

This is a full-time Emergency Medical Technician job based out of Greenfield, Indiana. The employers are looking for many new employees to fill a growing company. The job requirements would include relocation to somewhere in Central Indiana and having current Indiana EMT-B and CPR certifications. This would also include being in good enough physical health to perform the duties of an EMT which could include lifting and moving patients.

I have chosen to apply for the EMT-B position from Life Ambulance for several reasons. First, I have been an EMT-B for over a year and I do not have much experience in an ambulance. I enjoyed the time I have spent working on an ambulance greatly, but I have spent most of my time working in the Emergency Room and as a lifeguard. Working on an ambulance is one of the main reasons I became and EMT. Also, the more experience I get in emergency medicine, the better chances I have to get into a medical school. Medical Schools will often base their final decisions on who has the most experience and have they kept with this kind of work.

I feel I am qualified for this position because I already have work related experience and I meet all the requirements. Many applicants the company gets may be fresh out of an EMT-B course. I also meet all of the qualifications for this job. I have my EMT-B certification, CPR/AED certification, CEVO (Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator) certification, work experience, and I am physically fit enough to perform an EMT-B’s daily duties. Lastly, seeing they are hiring many new employees’ shows this is probably a patient transfer service and not a 911 based service. These companies often times only receive applications from new EMTs because experienced EMTs usually go to a 911 based service. I believe this would give me an advantage to getting this job.

This is a great entrance

This is a great entrance into the medical field. I have certifications and would like to work part-time as an EMT. Your experience as an EMT is great for building your resume. Your knowledge and skills have been very delveloped over the years with your previous jobs. I agree with your previous comments on having more experience helps in opening doors to medical doors. My older sister has experience as working as a CNA and volunteer organizations (i.e. mission trips and medical foundations) which contributed to her success into medical school.

Good for you

I admire anyone who feels the calling to become part of the medical field. This is a great way to get patient hours in before applying to med school after undergrad. It sounds like you have really thought this one out and have a good plan. I would like to someday become EMT certified. I would like to become trained as a firefighter and work in that type of field. I understand, like I am sure you do, the difficulties involved with having a career when you are constantly giving yourself to help other people. Good luck to you in the future.
