This is a position for an internship in the Pharmaceuticals Marketing department at Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals. The Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Marketing department’s objectives are initiating market and product-specific research prior to the launch of a new product and after the launch, the marketing department works to maximize the product advantages. The responsibilities of this internship include working with a marketing team on the following project-type assignments: marketing communications, market research, business planning and budget presentations, and direct-to-consumer. These all relate to the pharmaceutical industry, product management, or disease management.

I chose this internship because it includes two of the areas that I am interested in for my future career. I want a career in Marketing Management and Pharmaceuticals. Before I switched my major to Management with minors in Marketing, Organizational Behavioral Human Resources, and Spanish, my major was pharmacy. Although I chose to switch majors, I still work in the pharmacy at Major Hospital and enjoy working with medications and knowing that I’m helping people by distributing medication to them. If I could combine both of my interests, that would be ideal for me.

The qualifications for this internship include being a candidate for an MBA with emphasis in Marketing and Strategy. I am pursing my Bachelors Degree in Management but I plan to continue my education after I graduate. Previous consulting, pharmaceutical or health care experience is desirable. I have worked at Major Hospital Pharmacy in Shelbyville, Indiana for three years. I’ve also volunteered in various departments at Major Hospital including Radiology, the Intensive Care Unit, the Medical/Surgical unit, and Surgery. Other qualifications include: ability to think strategically and problem solve, excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, ability to work in a team environment, and results-oriented with willingness to take responsibility and initiative. I have several experiences working with teams and as stated in my skills inventory, I am very responsible and I always take the initiative to accomplish my goals. I feel I am very qualified for this position and am very passionate about this internship.

This internship is very interesting, and it especially capitalizes on a lot of your interests. This position is also an interest to me, because I was pharmacy major like you. Now I am a Health Science Major that is still interested in pharmaceuticals. I plan on going to graduate school either for hospital administration or for an MBA. You are qualified for the position with your experience in a pharmacy, and your minor in Spanish may also improve your chances of obtaining the internship. Good luck with the internship, you seem very goal driven.

Great qualifications

You have a terrific list of qualifications here - it is a nice mix of abstract things like problem solving and specific skills. The key for your resume and cover letter will be demonstrating and quatifying these skills. Talk briefly in your cover letter about a specific problem you've solved, or a particularly productive team experience. Reference specific duties in your resume that demonstrate your analytical skills. The more you can make these skills come alive, the more you will impress the HR people and stand out.
