This position is for a current accounting student that is looking to gain valuable experience in the field. The student will be working in a manufacturing company getting valuable exposure to the many different accounting tasks the company requires. It will be a summer internship but if the student does well part time employment many continue when the student returns to school in the fall. The minimum requirement is that a the student be pursing a bachelors of sciences in accounting. Otherwise there are no specific restrictions.
I chose this position because this is the type of accounting that I may want to do when I graduate from college. My father is the general manager of a manufacturing company and it has always interested me. I have had lots of exposure in the past to different types of manufacturing processes and jobs. I believe that because of this I am uniquely qualified for the job. Many accountants only know accounting; since I am well rounding I believe that I could bring more depth to the position. I meet the qualifications specified in the ad because I am pursing at least a B.S. in Accounting.
I also think that because of my previous experiences I am more qualified than many people my age. After owning and operating my own company for a number of years I am able to look at things from the big picture as well as the small. Someone who is only schooled in accounting may be better suited for a job at an accounting firm. I think it takes a better rounded accountant to succeed in a manufacturing accounting position.
