Resume Feedback

1) What can the writer do to make the resume better tailored to the specific job being applied for?

There really is not much you can do to improve on the objective. You pretty much hit the nail on the head already. You specified where you want to work at, and what it is you want to do.

2) Is the layout and design pleasing to the eye? Make at least one suggestion for improving it.

The layout and design is very pleasing. It seems as though there is a lot of blank space throughout the resume. Some ideas would be to make the overall font bigger or changing the format of the entire resume.

3) Does the resume fit comfortably within the page (as opposed to being squished in or stretched out)? What can the writer do to improve it?

Yes, the resume does fit well within the page. Maybe adding in some lines in between each section would make it easier for the reader to scan and go through quickly.

4) Is it easily readable (no confusing fonts, clearly marked sections)? What improvements can be made?

Everything is for the most part readable. The only suggestion I would make is to perhaps make the font on each section bigger. It’s kind of difficult to separate the headings from the jobs and roles you had.

5) Does it use typography (including headers and bold and italics) appropriately and effectively?

You used the typography very well. Like I said before making the font bigger on the headings could make it more effective.

6) Is the most important information located on the left side of the page and near the top whenever possible? Identify at least one part that could be better placed.

The important information is in fact on the left side of the page. A section that could be placed better would be to move the Certifications section under the Work Experience just because it carries a lot of weight within the field you are in.

7) Does the content of the resume support the objective (if there is one)? Explain.

Yes, the content very well supports the objective. The work experience, extracurricular activities, and certifications are all driven towards the information that is in your objective. It all ties in with what you want to do, good job.

8 Is the resume too short? Where can it elaborate? Job skills? Responsibilities? Education?

My only suggestion would be to add another bullet or two to each job listed if you can. The only reason I say this is because the CCO was on my back about me not having more than one bullet. They were saying it gives each experience “more meat” and helps fill in gaps.

9) Is material sequenced in order of importance and relevance?

For the most part yes, but like I mentioned before I would move the Certifications section under the Work experience.

10) Do bulleted items begin with action verbs? Are list items ordered in terms of importance?

Yes, good action verbs were used.

11) Does the resume avoid generalities and focus on specific information and professional terminology?

The resume does avoid generalities and focuses on detailed information and professional terminology.

12) Does the resume pass the Quadrant, Column, Squint, and Distance tests? Explain how the author might make improvements based on your test results.

Yes the resume does pass the test.

13) What other observations can you make about the resume?

Another thought would be to put your email address right under your name and put down your home phone number where you currently have your email address just in case employers cannot reach you on your cell. Only reason I say this is because I have had a few employers call my house in Virginia even though I was at Purdue.
