Peer Resume Review

1. What can the writer do to make the resume better tailored to the specific job being applied for?
- They provided good information in their objective and related past experience to their qualifications. I can't think of any significant changes.

2. Is the layout and design pleasing to the eye? Make at least one suggestion for improving it.
- The layout is pleasing and easy to follow. I would suggest to align the right column a little better. You should left align the right column as well, like the example in the book on page 227, but that is just a suggestion.

3. Does the resume fit comfortably within the page (as opposed to being squished in or stretched out)? What can the writer do to improve it?
- The writer did a good job of adequately filling one full page, and none of the information was too over the top. I have no suggestions for change in this department.

4. Is it easily readable (no confusing fonts, clearly marked sections)? What improvements can be made?
- The font remained consistent throughout the resume, which made it easy to follow along. The sections were also clearly distinguishable. I would maybe use a different bullet style for the information that is demoted, just so nothing runs together.

5. Does it use typography (including headers and bold and italics) appropriately and effectively?
- There was very good use of typography, it made it much easier to follow and transition.

6. Is the most important information located on the left side of the page and near the top whenever possible? Identify at least one part that could be better placed.
- The section header are the left most aligned, which is ideal, but some of the content within the sections is on the same alignment with the headers. It makes it slightly more difficult to follow and easier to overlook some information.

7. Does the content of the resume support the objective (if there is one)? Explain.
- The writer ties useful experience to an objective that they would be very qualified for.

8. Is the resume too short? Where can it elaborate? Job skills? Responsibilities? Education?
- The resume is of sufficient length. Maybe a slight elaboration of the contents in the activities and honors section would be helpful, but totally optional.

9. Is material sequenced in order of importance and relevance?
- Yes, each section seems to be in the best order that would be available for the contents listed.

10. Do bulleted items begin with action verbs? Are list items ordered in terms of importance?
- Yes, every bulleted point begins with a strong action verb. The bulleted list items seem to be of equal importance so the order is subjective.

11. Does the resume avoid generalities and focus on specific information and professional terminology?
-The writer has good use of professional terminology, and no generalities can be found.

12. Does the resume pass the Quadrant, Column, Squint, and Distance tests? Explain how the author might make improvements based on your test results.
- I would suggest that the writer use a more prominent right column alignment. This may be done by putting breaks in the middle of sentences of the left aligned information to provide more space for the right column.

13. What other observations can you make about the resume?
- The email address would probably be more visible and would stand out more if it was centered between the campus address and the permanent address, other than that, this resume was very well constructed.
