Questions for Response
1. What can the writer do to make the resume better tailored to the specific job being applied for?
Witin the objective statement, you might want to add what you can offer the company. For example, to gain valuable experience as an accounting intern while practicing strong management, organizational, and communication skills. I try and make my resume all about them and what they are looking for, the objective statement is a great place to use their words of what qualities or skills are required for the position that you possess.
2. Is the layout and design pleasing to the eye? Make at least one suggestion for improving it.
The layout looks a little empty. If you wanted you could enlarge the font size a little bit but keep the spacing. It looks great!
3. Does the resume fit comfortably within the page (as opposed to being squished in or stretched out)? What can the writer do to improve it?
Your resume looks like the perfect length. It fits great within the page. It might look a little stretched out because everything is in lists. There is not a lot of descrition and detail.
4. Is it easily readable (no confusing fonts, clearly marked sections)? What improvements can be made?
It is very readable. Like I said before I would try and be a bit more descritive and enlarge the font.
5. Does it use typography (including headers and bold and italics) appropriately and effectively?
Your use of bold font is used very effectively. It empasizes what’s important but is eye catching.
6. Is the most important information located on the left side of the page and near the top whenever possible? Identify at least one part that could be better placed.
7. Does the content of the resume support the objective (if there is one)? Explain.
The objective is not descriptive enough for me to decide this question. You might want to think about how the volunteer position can benefit you for the accounting internship.
8. Is the resume too short? Where can it elaborate? Job skills? Responsibilities? Education?
9. Is material sequenced in order of importance and relevance?
Yes! That looks excellent!
10. Do bulleted items begin with action verbs? Are list items ordered in terms of importance?
Yes!
11. Does the resume avoid generalities and focus on specific information and professional terminology?
The relevant course work is a little general, you could be a little more specific. Also on the skills part since you have the room you could mention a project that was completed using that computer skill.
12. Does the resume pass the Quadrant, Column, Squint, and Distance tests? Explain how the author might make improvements based on your test results.
You might want to even out the text a little bit. It seems there is much more text in the middle than at the top and end.
13. What other observations can you make about the resume?
It just seems like there is a lot of empty space. Although I am not sure if that is a good thing or bad. Depends on what you think! I would just really focus on making your strengths as a person stand out on your resume. Also, I just wanted to note that instead of the title work experience you might want to put experience since it was a voluteer position. Just an idea. I think you have a great start and I wish you the best of luck. I hope this helps!
