Resume Peer Editing

1. Maybe you could add the name of the company for which you plan on applying to in the professional objective statement.
2. I think your resume is pleasing to the eye. The only suggestion I would make is to use black ink instead of blue ink.
3. Yes the resume fits nicely into the page; it is not squished or stretched out.
4. Yes it is easy to read. My only suggestion would to be to maybe use a little more bold words to have them stick out more.
5. Yes good use of typography. Once again maybe a little more bold but that's it.
6. Yes, you have your educational information first and work experience right after that I think those are two very important sections so that is good.
7. I would say it does since you want to get an internship in construction management and you describe some skills from other jobs that will help you out in BCM.
8. I think you can add a little more information; there is still some space at the bottom of the page. Maybe you can add in some classes relevant to your major that you've take to show your learning about your major.
9. Yes, everything seems to be in order of importance and relevance. The order is good.
10. Yes, you did a very good job making sure all the bullet points started with action verbs. Looks good and is consistent.
11. For the most part yes but maybe try to find a way to throw in some more technical terms that you learn in BCM so companies see that you already have a little experience in BCM.
12. Yes you pass them all in my book.
13. I think you have a very good resume. The only thing I would add is some more in the education area. Maybe some favorite classes or ones that you learned a lot from. Overall a very good job and you can tell you took the time to do it right.

Resume Peer Editing

1. What can the writer do to make the resume better tailored to the specific job being applied for?
The resume is great! It includes job experience with types of construction as well as the use of equipment - fork lift.
2. Is the layout and design pleasing to the eye? Make at least one suggestion for improving it.
The layout and design is very pleasing to the eye. My only suggestion would be changing the font of the headlines to differentiate the text from the headlines.
3. Does the resume fit comfortably within the page (as opposed to being squished in or stretched out)? What can the writer do to improve it?
The resume fits nicely within the page. I wouldn't do anything to change this! It is a great one-page resume.
4. Is it easily readable (no confusing fonts, clearly marked sections)? What improvements can be made?
The resume is easily readable and the bullets make it easy to follow when reading it.
5. Does it use typography (including headers and bold and italics) appropriately and effectively?
Yes, the resume uses bold and italics to differentiate between items of information.
6. Is the most important information located on the left side of the page and near the top whenever possible? Identify at least one part that could be better placed.
The most important information is located perfectly. I would possibly put the place of work and city and state to the right of the title of your job. It would be more effective than at the bottom of the description of your responsibilities at each job.
7. Does the content of the resume support the objective (if there is one)? Explain.
Yes! I think it is a great resume for construction management. Both of his jobs included working in teams and with his hands. He also worked during each season of the year which is great for construction.
8. Is the resume too short? Where can it elaborate? Job skills? Responsibilities? Education?
The resume is the perfect length but I would elaborate on specific classes that would relate to construction management and possible projects in those classes.
9. Is material sequenced in order of importance and relevance?
Yes the material is in order of importance and relevance.
10. Do bulleted items begin with action verbs? Are list items ordered in terms of importance?
Yes bulleted items begin with action verbs which catch the reader's attention. I'm not exactly sure the order of importance for landscaping or automotive technician, but they seem to be listed in terms of importance.
11. Does the resume avoid generalities and focus on specific information and professional terminology?
My only suggestion would be elaborating on the team building skills and the after-school program if possible.
12. Does the resume pass the Quadrant, Column, Squint, and Distance tests? Explain how the author might make improvements based on your test results.
Yes the resume passes all these tests!
13. What other observations can you make about the resume?
This resume is great and with a few changes will be ready to submit for a summer internship in construction management!
