Resume Peer Editing - Rachel

1. The objective is well thought out and clear but to make it better tailored, my suggestion is to add the specific area of work desired.
2. The layout is very appealing the eye. The resume is very organized and well written. One suggestion is to set all the dates on the resume to the far right column so they stand out more.
3. The resume fits well into the page and is not squeezed in to fit or stretched out to take up room.
4. The resume is easy to read and it has a nice, clear font. One suggestion is to spread out the dates and the location by putting in extra tabs or putting the dates a space below the job title.
5. The header is used effectively to give the name and the location of the writer. I liked the way that the address was written under the name.
6. All of the important information is placed on the left hand side of the resume and tabs are used to show further information. One part that could be better placed is the dates of the work experience. But tabbing it over to the far right, the dates are clearer and easier to find.
7. The content of the resume fits the objective especially with the internship experience. The tasks of the internship are well standing, and it gives the employer a clear picture of what tasks were performed.
8. The resume is a good length. It thoroughly covered the work experience. To add more, I would suggest adding more about accomplishments to the resume.
9. All of the material is placed in order of relevance.
10. All of the bulleted items start with action verbs and are matched throughout the resume.
11. The resume focused on professional terminology in the work experiences. It shows the knowledge and skills of the job.
12. The resume passes all the tests. One improvement may be to spread out the information under the work experience such as the date and location.
13. My overall observation of the resume is that is very impressive and has a lot of terminology that shows professionalism.

1. What can the writer do to make the resume better tailored to the specific job being applied for?
Add more substance. Give your resume a personality by specifying activities and interest etc. Also the strenghts shouldn’t be listed as bullets. You may want to consider saying that in a sentence.
2. Is the layout and design pleasing to the eye? Make at least one suggestion for improving it?
There is too much empty space on the resume and the space that is filled up seems to be filled up for the sake of filling up.
3. Does the resume fit comfortably within the page (as opposed to being squished in or stretched out)? What can the writer do to improve it?
Yes! It fills up a little too easily. Probably a good idea that you talk about some career interest related class projects.
4. Is it easily readable (no confusing fonts, clearly marked sections)? What improvements can be made?
Yes! Occupyig too much space with things that can be and should be said in one line.
5. Does it use typography (including headers and bold and italics) appropriately and effectively?
I think typography is well used i.e. appriately and effectively in this resume.
6. Is the most important information located on the left side of the page and near the top whenever possible? Identify at least one part that could be better placed.
For the most part things are located in a good order. I think the computer skill should be moved up with education and listes in just one line.
7. Does the content of the resume support the objective (if there is one)? Explain.
I think the content of the resume fits the objective but the objective does need to be a little more well defined.
8. Is the resume too short? Where can it elaborate? Job skills? Responsibilities? Education?
I definitely think that the resume is too short. There should be more content about education and what you learned from it(Class Projects) and how you can apply those skills in your internship.
9. Is material sequenced in order of importance and relevance?
I think the material is thoughtfully palces in sequential order of importance and relevance.
10. Do bulleted items begin with action verbs? Are list items ordered in terms of importance?
Action verbs are used and but the usage is inconsistent in the work experience section.
11. Does the resume avoid generalities and focus on specific information and professional terminology?
I think the resume does somewhat cater to specifc information and professional terminology
12. Does the resume pass the Quadrant, Column, Squint, and Distance tests? Explain how the author might make improvements based on your test results.
I think it passes all the tests. There should be some work put into the formatting though.
13. What other observations can you make about the resume?
Overall, I think you have down played you experiences and your skill. I feel you have a lot more in you but you are not selling yourself in theright way.
