JetBlue Crisis

The article I found was published a couple hours ago on the CNN website. It talks about the result of the JetBlue crisis in February on JetBlue Airways founder and Chairman David Neeleman. In addition, the article discusses how the company has reorganized and responded to the February disaster. Since the February incident David Neeleman is no longer CEO and Chairman of JetBlue. Although it was originally presented as a mutual agreement between Neeleman and the board of directors, this was not the case at all. Neeleman was basically forced out of a position he still wished he could have. Since the event JetBlue has created a passengers bill of rights, promising future travel and the right to get off any aircraft delayed more than 5 hours. This article has provided some interesting information that will be useful with the communication project. It has shown how an unforeseen event can have a major impact on corporate structure and policy, and how it is important for companies to be proactive.

"how it is important for companies to be proactive"

I think your article makes an important point "how it is important for companies to be proactive". I really liked the article that you chose. I think the former CEO was a very honest man to say that he was forced out of his position. It takes courage to say that publically. I think his interview showed a lot of his personality and morals. I also was surprised to read how he donated his salary to helping his employees with financial difficulties. My intial thought about why this happened was that the company was putting too much emphasis on customers and not enough on its employees, however that seems to prove otherwise. I like his direct approach to the situation and his obvious proactive approach. Jet Blue admits it made a mistake, makes an attempt to learn from it, grow, and move on making sure it never happens again. Instead of waiting on it to happen again or just fixing the damage.
