The sample press releases were very helpful in writing my press release. In chapter 36, Concise sentencing, concise sentencing means making every word count. I learned that cutting empty words and phrases out is a good form of revision. Condensing phrases into single words and elimination redundancy is a good was to clean up one's work. In combining sentences I learned how to reformat sentences to work more smoothly. In chosing strong verbs I was amazed by the process of moving verbs to make them stronger. From the Purdue Owl, the goals were to use the most effective words. "Concise writing does not always have the fewest words, but it always uses the strongest ones." In Thomson Handbook Chapter 1 on Writing and Rhetoric in Contextbeing an effective writer means that you know how to imagine the many contexts in which your writing may be read.
The audience that we are addressing is new and old customers. Pretty much anyone that may fly in an airplane one day and need to choose an air carrier. The feelings that these customers want to hold are trust in their carrier. The expectations are to not have any difficulties with their flights. Their predictions are good seeing that they chose these airline. The customers desires are high; they want to enjoy their flights.

I think chapter 36 is very important to all of us college students. We all have to write research papers that have to be a certain length and I feel that sometimes students try to write more just to make it the required length. I add or reword some sentences sometimes when writing to make it longer so my paper is long enough. Looking at the book however it is better to write more concisely instead of making your writing wordy and longer. I think that combining sentences is another important lesson most students don't do. I find myself writing sentences that can be combined but I never really look for it. After this reading I think I will be able to write more concisely and more efficiently.
