After reading chapter 25 in the Thomson Handbook I compared their designs and suggestions on how to make a brochure to the brochure I found. The brochure was very easy to read. The Brochure had a few different kinds of fonts and sizes. It contains a lot of pictures which I think was very good because they perfectly fit the brochure. The pictures show you how to take proper precautions when using pesticide products. The brochure is mostly made up Analogous colors. There are a few pictures and texts that are made up of complementary colors. The brochure explains to us why we showed call them regarding pesticides. It also clearly tells us all the things they can help and assist us with if we call them. Over all I think this brochure was good for this particular advertisement and company. On the other hand I think the pictures got most of my attention.
Looking at this brochure and reading chapter 25 gave me a chance to understand and see how brochures are really made. Earlier I thought they were very easy to make as long as they look good and have a few pictures. But now after reading chapter 25 I have realized that there are a lot of important steps in order to make a good brochure.

This brochure is eye catching because of the simple question, "You've got questions?". This will usually make the audience want to read more to know what types of questions the brochure is answering. The brochure uses repetition with the bug in the different pictures. The pictures also show daily activities that most people do like mowing the lawn and kids playing at the playground. These will grab the audience's attention because they will be able to relate to the pictures. The brochure also uses analogous colors but the blue and green are at opposite ends of the page which still catches the reader's eye. The font is very small and difficult to read but if it was larger, the brochure would have used font very effectively. There are different colors and sizes of fonts. Another repetition that the brochure uses is the 1-800 number and the logo of the National Pesticide Information Center. The use of a "?" for the P in the logo is effective for the readers because they will remember the logo because it is different than just NPIC. I think this brochure fits the NPIC very nicely.

I have to disagree with you about the brochure being easy to read. When I first looked at the brochure my eyes did not know where to go first. To me, there wasn't a clear structure to the document. The text was aligned nicely but, I didn't think the brochure used the principle of proximity very well. Once I started reading the text, I thought the information was presented well. As you said, it clearly told the reader everything they need to know regarding pesticides. I did like the use of bullet points in the brochure. This seems to be a running theme in most of the brochures I read. Realistically, who wants to read a lot of lengthy paragraphs in a two page brochure.

I agree with most of your points about this brochure, when just glancing at it I had a lot of trouble making sense of it. There was no clear order that I could find and I really had to start looking closely to find what I wanted. Once you started reading though it wasn't horrible to follow, it was just tough to figure out where to begin. I liked the pictures, but they sort of made it hard to read because they were a bit distracting. They were however very good at catching my eye. I think if the text were a little bigger it would be better, but it's pretty effective at getting your attention and once you start reading it isn't too bad to follow.

I think the brochure you have chosen is a different one than the regular headings with bullet layout. I like the layout, how it is being viewed as a PDF on the Internet does not do it real justice. At first glance it does not appear as organized and as easy to read as I think it would be folded into a brochure. I like how they utilize asking questions and then provide the the information to those questions. I think this is a really good approach when using headings. It helps the audience relate to the brochure on a personal level. There is so much that goes into making these brochures. First considering the audience, layout, design, text, content, theme, tone, the list could continue.
