Find my brochure: http://www.epa.gov/oppfead1/Publications/catalog/greenscaping.pdf

I found this brochure about Greenscaping, and its goal was to promote healthy yard work. This brochure was sponsored by the EPA and it went into great detail on how to make a yard beautiful. I think design and the information that will be relayed is the most important thing to consider when forming a brochure. One of the first things I noticed was the pretty flowers on the front of the brochure. Throughout the brochure there are many pictures that could attract readers to this brochure. The goal of a brochure is to attract the reader and then keep their interest. This brochure definitely attracted me to it, specifically because I like flowers.

Looking at the page layout the font remains around the same size mostly on the brochure. Everything is aligned throughout the whole brochure, and the book notes that align equals meaning. There is bold font used and many bullets. This made the brochure look better while pointing out keywords. The colors were definitely an enhancement for the brochure. It probably wasn’t difficult since the brochure focused on yard work and had many pictures from nature. Now for the information in the brochure the authors did a great job of capitalizing on the facts. They used numbering and bolded them to guide the reader to the exact information. The bullets present also helped when reading the brochure.

After looking over this brochure I want my groups to have the similar characteristics. I want our pictures to have a toned color scheme and have the same effect this brochure had on me. The key to having a brochure will be to bring our pictures and information together. The pictures worked really well for them especially since this reflected nature. My goal is to have a well organized brochure that has graphic designs and other enhancements to make it attractive.

The brochure that you choose is really a nice brochure. For the purpose that this brochure creates it is really good. Also it is perfect for the company and message that they are trying to display. All of the beautiful backgrounds and flowers are great design features, they add a lot to the brochure. They really keep their goal of attracting the reader and keeping their interest, it also attracted me! I love beautiful pictures and with the fonts and format it really is a great brochure that you found. The colors also add a lot of get aspects to the brochure and I would like to try to achieve a lot of these design features in my group’s brochure.

My major is associated with landscaping so I have seen a lot of brochures just like this one. I thought it gave all the necessary information in a very organized way. One of the principles from Chapter 25 that stood out most to me was the use of proximity. With almost every section there was a little picture (wheel barrow, compost box) that illustrated what the text was describing. I thought the last page was an excellent strategy for restating important points from the brochure. Even if a person did not read the entire document, when they glance at the last page they get a good idea what the message was. My goal for the brochure is similar to ours in that good organization is key. I relate to all the other documents we have been writing, if it doesn't look professional no one is going to want to read it.
