The brochure I found is about green scaping issued in the public interest by The United States Environment Protection Agency. I my view this is a perfect example of a lively and attractive brochure. There is so much freshness in it, predominantly created by the pictures added. The pictures are very well suited to the theme and the purpose of the brochure.
The chapter talks about the principle of proximity which is very well presented on the first page. The title is followed by a brief description and at the bottom is the agency’s name. Also if we go through the brochure we can clearly see that related pictures are preceded by the text.
There is a reasonable difference between the font sizes of the headings and the main text that follows. Sans serif font is used to write the headings. What I like about this brochure is that it didn’t use the Times New Roman and instead have used another font which is appealing to the eye. The backgrounds are all in lighter shades or white which makes the text more readable and also prevents congestion. Also the light background colors help paint a picture of calmness and serenity in mind which is complementary to the pattern.
Bullets have also been used which help organizing the information in a better way and thus providing the reader an easy way to access the information. The bullets have also been changed to be flowers which help in maintaining the overall theme of the brochure.
I think that this brochure will help me and my group in great ways to design our own brochure. It would be great to have more pictures so that it looks attractive to the reader. Then there should also be some sort of symmetry in the format of different pages.

I read a reading response earlier today that used this same brochure. I agreed that it makes for a good example for this project. The color scheme, layout, and pictures all add a certain feeling to the document that coincides with its objective. I was thinking about our own project and thought it would be a good idea to use dog paws or bones or something of that nature for bullets, depending on what type of animal we are working with in that section of the brochure. Also, the use of quality pictures will be beneficial to our project. The objective of the Humane Society is to prevent cruelty and neglect to animals by operating an animal shelter for homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals; by operating an adoption center for healthy animals; by investigating cruelty and abuse cases; and by educating the public in responsible pet ownership. Therefore, finding pictures that would attract people to adopt pets, for example, would be something important to have.

Overall, this is a well designed brochure but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement with respect to the visual effects. The colors used do portray a very lively feeling in the audience but lacks in creating more relevant and intriguing effect. I feel that the page design of the brochure is very consistent through and the written knowledge is conveyed very effectively. This can be a good guideline for the group to follow with respect to organizing the text. However, I strongly feel that this brochure is way to long and for some reason beat the purpose of a brochure. I think our brochure should be more brief and yet as comprehensive. Not too many people spend the time to browse 16 pages of a brochure.
