I found a brochure about Miami Beach, which at first sight is very eye catching because of its unique colors and design. First off, the alignment of the brochure is neatly done. The text looks very well aligned with the images that are placed next to them. The text seems to “wrap” the images, giving the reader a sense of direct relation between them to avoid any confusion. The colors of the brochure are very bright and highlight the information giving the reader much more attention. What I like the most about this brochure is that it follows the same pattern all along: It starts and ends with the same design but with different colors; all along the brochure it is text first, and then images and so on. Referring to the Thompson Handbook, this is a clear example of contrast since it gives “sharp differences in color, typography, or other design elements” and it highlights prioritized information adding visual interest.
This document has definitely given me many ideas on the design of the brochure for the service learning project. First off, the design and color of the Miami Beach brochure are really good and gave me an idea of how to catch the reader’s attention. It also reflects professionalism on behalf of the brochure giving the reader much more comfort and confidence on behalf of the offered product. In my opinion, this is something really important to keep in mind. I will also try to follow a similar pattern as the brochure; images and then words. This is so the reader does not get too dizzy or bored because of the excess information the brochure can be transmitting. If I add images then I could omit a lot of words which is more comfortable for the reader, and also attracts their attention.

This is a very exciting brochure; it really captures the reader’s attention. All of the wonderful pictures that they incorporated into this brochure are really great! I also like how they got circles and put pictures them, it really looks awesome! The opening page really captures the reader’s attention with the ocean as a background and Miami Beach. This is by far the best brochure that I have seen, I am going to save it and use many of the design features in my group’s brochure. I love the colors, pictures, objects, and fun designs that they had added to it! Although, I think that they font maybe a little too small, I would change that about this brochure. My favorite thing about the brochure is the circles with the pictures in it. Overall, I really like this brochure the best out of all the ones I have seen and would like to use a lot of these design features in my group’s brochure.

This brochure uses a great deal of repetition and contrast. Circles are a recurrence in this brochure. There are many pictures that are in the shape of a circle as well as just colored circles over another picture or behind the text. The brochure is divided by rectangles and the circles contrast the rectangles which catches the reader's eye. There is also a beach ball which adds to the theme of circles as well as the page numbers are in a circle. The pictures are also very bright which grabs the readers' attention. The font is very small and somewhat hard to read but I think the pictures and the use of circles would attract the audience to still read the brochure or at least look at the pictures and remember it was a brochure from Miami Beach. I also like the use of putting one word on the side of the page which draws the reader to just that word to see what it says, for instance, the word "savor" allows the reader to imagine delicious food. This brochure used the elements discussed in Chapter 25 effectively to keep the audience's attention.

After browsing through this document it definitely made me want to visit Miami. This brochure is a fine example of how a document of this sort should be done. It has great color schemes to go along with the vibrant theme of Miami. The overall design such as alignment and color schemes were enhancing. The brochure design enabled me to get a since of what to expect in Miami. I think this a fine example and should be used when considering designing your brochure with your group. Good Luck!
nice brochure
I agree that the brochure you found is very eye catching. It uses very vibrant colors throughout the whole thing to help the reader understand what it would be like to be there. I also thought that the alignment was very unique, unlike any other brochure I have seen. The alternating sides of pictures and text created a very neat visual effect. The use of the circular pictures with text wrapped around also stood out in mind. Even though at first glance you cannot notice any pattern when you look farther into the document you see that it does a great job of using repetition with the text and layout as well. I plan to use some of the information from this document to help me work on my groups.
RE: Reading Response Week 5
I thought the brochure you chose was very interesting and eye-catching. It had a wonderful design scheme. I think that when we start to design the brochure for our group, we should keep this one in mind for some possible ideas. I especially liked the reoccurance of circles in the design, whether it be them holding words or pictures. Using vivid action and descriptive words the way this brochure did helps to paint a picture in the reader's head. Not only can they see what is going on from the pictures, but they can fully imagine themselves acting out the "buzz" word from each page. I think limiting the words written in favor of descriptive pictures could be an effective direction to move in with our groups brochure, which you feel will avoid readers getting "too dizzy or bored". I agree completely. I think if we incorporate your ideas into this project we will do very well. I look forward to creating the theme for our group and seeing where this project leads!
I really like your choice in
I really like your choice in choosing this brochure. The colors are vibrant and the layout design is very neat. The color enhances the beauty of miami beach and makes it very inviting to visit. The graphics display not only the beauty of nature, but also the various sites to see and experience. Some the quotes on the pictures in proximity to the portrait convey the correct meaning, where as some were unclear. The alignment gracefully enhance the pictures by wrapping around smaller images. I concur that this brochure uses the contrasting effect and is professional looking. It is very important how the brochure is presented. First, grab the audiences' attention. Secondly, keep the attention with the information to back up the visuals.

I think the brochure you found is really beautiful. The most important part is that the colors they used catches the eye, and since it is about a place, it makes all the images more interesting. I really loved also, how the contrasted all the images with the format of the written pages. I mean, the written pages all follow the same format but they support their initial line “Miami beach is all about variety” by adding all those pictures with different colors. They did the same thing by contrasting the first page with the second one. Finally, what I noticed is that the titles in the written pages are vertical and that actually give less formality to the brochure. I think they were trying to be informal since they are advertising a beach. Good job!
