The brochure I found was for the Shoalhaven City Arts Centre. The brochure does an excellent job at using proximity, alignment, repetition, and contrast to help the brochure highlight the Arts Centre. The cover section uses a dark background with bright colors for the text to draw the eyes to the title. There is also a painting on the cover, which catches the eyes first, and then helps lead them to the text at the bottom of the page. To contrast both the dark background and the rest of the text, a small red section at the bottom contains more text that further explains the centre. The proximity of the text on the cover helps create an association between all the texts.
The inside page uses a great deal of repetition with the alignment and typography to help the eye down the page. The column heads are all the same font, as are the subheadings. They text also contrasts well with the darker background, which itself is different from the cover. The text at the very bottom is misaligned from the rest of the text on the page, which draws attention to it as you reach the bottom of the page. This works well since it is important information, the opening and closing schedule for the Arts Centre.
The inside three columns are aligned well, and the typography repeats again with headers being similar and subheadings being similar. The columns are about even in length and all start with a different piece of artwork, this makes them all similar and helps them flow together. The fact that the inside columns are different than any other part of the brochure creates a sort of contrast and I believe helps you find the more detailed information on the inside.

The brochure you chose was very well organized. The color contrast and the proper alignment made it easy to read. The effective use of pictures with vibrant colors made it more appealing to the eye. I also especially like the way the membership rates, hire rates and the demand for volunteers is written. It is properly organized and follows a proper sequence.
This brochure follows the guidelines mentioned in chapter 25 of the textbook and is extremely effective.

The brochure that you choose looks like it was a tri-fold and I imagine that’s what it was intended for. It looks unique because the first page has three different background colors so it is different from page to page, but through the use to complementary colors it is all pretty much the same. Considering it is a brochure for and arts centre it would be best to include pictures of artistic works, and that is exactly the approach they took. To make it more spontaneous they used images of different kinds of art from paintings to sculptures to show the diversity of works that the place actually has. The brochure has consistent alignment and it is all very readable. If you mimic characteristics from this brochure in your own brochure you will produce a very commendable document.

The tri-fold brochure you found looked very nice. I think they did a great job making a brochure that draws the eye. First the color of the background will make it stand out against other brochures if it is bunched together. Like you mentioned they did a great job of contrasting text between the text and the background. On the front and back of the brochure they use white lettering with a dark background while in the middle they use the opposite. They also did a good job using lots of pictures on the brochure because it is the types of art at the gallery that will bring in visitors. They should make sure that they use a good printer to print the images to keep their color and clarity. I think this brochure will help you out when you are working on your group project.

The brochure that you found and used was very well organized. It looks very different because the color contrasts of the backgrounds on the first page are all different. All the were complementary colors. The brochure has a good alignment and it is very readable. They used many good pictures with lively colors that made the brochure more appealing to the eye when you first look at it, On the other hand it was good how the information regarding the demand for volunteers, membership and hire rates were included. This brochure follows most of the guidelines that were mentioned in chapter 25 of the Thomson handbook. If you use some the ideas form the brochure and make your own, I think you will make a good brochure.

I really like this brochure because it gets right to the point and it is very simple. The cover page uses a very good design and mix of color and tone, especially since the word "art" stand out which represents what the whole brochure is all about. The other pages follow a similiar format which is very good since it does not contain much text and contains images which represent what the Arts Centre has to offer. I agree with you when you say that the alignment and typography help the eye down the page, since what you first see is the painting. This creates attention to the reader forcing them to read the rest of the brochure, since what they first lay their eyes on is very appealing. The pages that offer the information are kept simple and are colored in a manner which does not bother the eye at all.

I think this is a really elegant brochure. I love they way they used a lot of images. The colors those images gave to the brochure gave it the life it has. Off course they had an advantage because their business is about pretty things and their information can be shown more by images than words. They used a sans sherif font that, in my opinion, makes it contemporary. Although I love patterns, I must admit that the lack of consistency in this brochure is something I did like. The difference of the colors in the outside with the white background in the inside gives the touch of creativity that makes them be artists.

I liked this brochure. There were a few things that i noticed that were not my favorite, however. The first is the color of the headings on the second page. I think that they could be in a brighter color which would draw more attention and be more productive. The second, is that the bright blue background on the one section is a very bold color; however, it is not used any where else. There is a little blue in the photographs, but when you first open the brochure, you won't see those, the bright blue page will be facing opposite to the picture of the flower. I think these are contrasting colors and would not compliment each other well.
