The Brochure I chose was of The Oxford English Dictionary Online. The brochure talks about the history of the oxford dictionary on one page and then goes on to talk about the benefits of having the dictionary online. It talks of the different features the online dictionary will have its user friendliness and finally asks for help from the public to update the dictionary.

This brochure makes really good use of visual effects. The cover of the brochure instantly creates a level of trust seeing the hard bound volumes of the dictionary and the next page with pictures of the great philosophers wants to make you read the page and then go ahead.

The typography and the alignment in the entire brochure is very well done. Each page is alignment is slightly different which makes it more appealing as it is not repetitive. Even though the alignment on each page is different, the basic format is the same, every page uses the same bullets and all the arrows are in red giving the entire document continuity.

The most effective part of the brochure however is from page 4-7. The visual effects of the different features of the online dictionary are well very shown. The explanation of theses images also gives the reader a clear idea of what to expect. There is a lot of information on each page but it is not overwhelming to read it.

On page 7, the public is being asked for their contribution, the Chief Editor John Simpson is quoted and his picture is put on that page giving it an extremely personal. touch. After seeing the brochure I would definitely consider getting a subscription!

I thought The Oxford English Dictionary Online did a very good job on this brochure. One thing that I noticed was the design which remained consistent throughout the brochure and stayed close to the theme of a dictionary. The amount of information within brochure gives just enough facts to interest a reader in the dictionary. The explanations given for everything were helpful too, it made an area that may be difficult for some to comprehend more easy. I also think they did a great job of using visual effects, and the color schemes too. Overall the brochure represented the things mentioned in Chapter 25.

This was a very good brochure that your group can take many ideas from. As you said in your response, the brochure touches on many of the idea that were brought up in chapter five of The Thomson Handbook. You mentioned how the alignment was very unique. This was true in this brochure and I feel it would be beneficial to include a similar structure in our brochures for this class. If we demote some lines and promote others, it will help us to put more stress on the more important text. The proximity was good in this brochure too. The images fit well with the text, and they did provide assurance that a customer would be receiving a quality product if they decided to purchase these books from them. Also adding the personal touch at the end by asking for customer contribution will also be beneficial. On top of all this, I think the brochure maintains a good color scheme as well. This brochure was very well done for sure.

Great brochure and I'm glad you picked it! First, I thought the coloring throughout the entire document was interesting and professional. I thought the screen shots of the website really stood out and gave me a detailed and accurate representation of their product. They also gave me a lot of information on how to use the product. The pictures on page 2 were put together very well. I thought this brochure flowed from beginning to end and it was good to see that the Chief Editor was featured. This might be an idea we would be able to use in our own group. (Such as putting in a picture of the humane society "owner" and some sending off words.)

Great brochure!

I really like the way this brochure starts off. The first page is attracts a lot of attention due to its design and colors. The title contrasts itself perfectly with the backround and the rest of the page. The rest of the brochure is very similiar, all of the other pages have a lot of text as well as images. In my opinion, the Oxford English Online Dictionary could have done the brochure a little bit longer in order to fit less text on a page, since it could be kind of tyring to the reader. The images that illustrate some parts of the brochure's content are well done, they give a much richer meaning to the text. In other words, they help send the message a lot. The other thing I did not like is that the first two pages are very well designed and illustrative, but then it gets kind of dull with the same colors and a lot of text. If the whole brochure was designed as the first two pages were, then it would have been a lot better.

I really liked this brochure. They are very consistent with the font and colors in all the information pages, but at the same time they left this contrast with the second one. It has a very legible font that helps a lot considering that so many letters can seem overwhelming. In the last page also liked the touch the contrast they gave to the quote at the beginning of the page. The leading is good, also having in mind that the purpose of the brochure was to give as much information and they had a lot of details to cover.

This brochure does a great job of using space. There isn't anywhere on it which doesn't have a picture, text, or coloring. i think this is great because it make it interesting. I liked the pictures that it used. The one thing that I thought was a little strange was the use of the last picture. This is the first time that a real photograph had been used. I think it would have been important to use photos earlier so that this one doesn't look out of place. I think photos can have effects that other pictures do not have. I agree with you in that this is a very informative brochure: with the screen shots and the specific examples of different ways to use the dictionary.

I liked the brochure you picked. It contained most of the principles of chapter 25. Especially on page 4, although the alignment of the content was not simple proper arrows, red color, and comments had been used to make reader understand easily. The brochure also used effective contrasts. As you said, the first page was effective enough to draw the reader’s eyes. I liked how it included the image of the earth. The image made the dictionary look professional and widely used. I thought this brochure would be very good example when you work on your own brochure.

I believe that using different typography and alignment will make the brochure more appealing.
