Reading Response

After reading Chapter 37 in our handbook, I feel that our group came up with a very simple looking brochure that also provided a good amount of information. Although it still needs some work, a lot of information such as who we are and what our goal is, are all given in the brochure. There are a mix of different sentences, most of which are kept simple and filled with information. I think this type of writing fits our audience best, and does not make them read a novel before they find out what they are looking for.

I liked your comment about not making the audience read a novel to find out what they are looking for. Brochures are generally glanced at quickly and people need cues to lead their eyes to the information they are looking for whithout having to read for 10 minutes. I think one of the things my group needs to work on this week is re-organizing and trimming the text we have in our brochure because it may be too difficult to find information in it. All the information is there, it just takes too long to find exactly what you're looking for, and I want our audience to be able to just skim and find exactly what they are looking for. I think the easy part is including the information, and the hard part is placing it in an easy to find way for your audience without leaving out anything important.
