After reading the assigned chapters, I think one of the most important concepts from the reading was about the audience. This is very applicable to our situation while making the brochures. We need to remember what we are trying to accomplish. We need people to help volunteer, so we need to be confident but not overbearing when asking for their help. I thought we did a great job of this in our brochure. For example, we listed out each specific duty of each of the positions that needed help. This will be very helpful for people who are interested in this project.
I was very pleased how our brochure turned out. Our layout of the brochure satisfies the requirements of what the book was trying to convey. Our design was very concise. The only issue we may need to address is that some portions of the brochure may be a bit wordy. However, I felt it is necessary to be descriptive in order to teach people about this philanthropy. Pictures were also a very important part of this project. I felt we also addressed the issues the book talked about. These are key features that are also great advertising for this project. They help the potential volunteers see things from another perspective and can possibly imagine what the event will be like.
Our group has done a great job so far. I think we are all very pleased with the draft version of our brochure. Our cohesive teamwork and communication has really allowed us to work on and finish this project efficiently. I believe our brochure does follow the correct design and outline of the project. I am very anxious to see how our final brochure turns out, especially with some revision ideas from the professor. Lastly, if we keep the group synergy like it is now, I have no doubt that we will be the group to earn the A for this project.

I agree. I am also very
I agree. I am also very pleased in the manner in which our first draft of the brochure turned out. I think we worked well as a group and met the necessary principles to effectively construct the document. I also think that there are some areas that need a revision because it may be misleading or wordy. I don't think we have enough visual content its weight throughout the pamphlet. There are too many words and not enough images. Although the content is very informative, I believe sentence structure needs to be revised. I believe we done a great job so far and am excited to see the finished product of the final draft.
Agree
I agree with your post very much, Erik. We have done excellent so far in communicating and working as a team despite all of our conflicting schedules. I definitely think that we could use some revision in the text of the document. I feel like for our first draft we needed to get the raw information on the page to determine what it is we wanted to say to our audience. In our next draft, it will be up to us to make it more concise and think of a more compelling and direct way to convey this information. I think that adding another picture might be a good idea so that we don't bore our readers. I look forward to seeing how our brochure turns out, and getting that A when this project is over! P.S. great job on your part of the project!

I agree with you on how important the audience can be. It is so important for them to understand the material you are presenting. In order to gain understanding the audience must be interested in the message you are trying to relay. As for being specific in your brochure that was good start. It is always good to be upfront with the readers to let them know what you expect. As for the design it is good you are trying to be concise. I think after looking over chapter 37 that should help also with sentence structure. Overall you seem to have a good start on your brochure. Good Luck!

I noticed that you mentioned "the A" and I was wondering if only one group was going to receive an A on this project. Also, teamwork is a huge emphasis on this project as well as communication. Communicating with team members that you have never met and that live in very different time zones creates an immense challenge for this project. Like your group, my group has done a tremendous job at working through those difficulties. I stated in a previous blog how what I like about teamwork is how each team member finds their role and contributes to the group. My group has already begun that process. It is interesting to see how each person steps up and contributes different strengths to the project even if it is merely a motivating skill. I am really appreciating the experience and lessons I am learning from this group project. I wish your group the best of luck although it sounds like you are achieving very successfully.
Brochure
I agree with you that the important part of the reading was how to focus on the correct audience. In the brochure we needed to focus on trying to get people to volunteer and donate money. Both are very hard things to do in a short text document. We also had to keep in mind that kids would be reading this and may want to help as well. In our brochure we included a list of supplies that kids could donate to help out the organization. I felt that this helped us keep in mind all audiences that would be reading the brochure. I also felt that in order to get the message across pictures were an important part. I think that some of the pictures from the website made a great addition to the brochure and really would make people consider donating.
