As described in chapter 24, the visual aids are an integral and a very important part of being expressive. As is said, “a picture is worth thousand words” stands absolutely correct. Since the pictures are of great importance, a lot of care has to be taken while deciding on the photos to be put in the brochure. A person won’t open the brochure until it is appealing with some great pictures. We tried to put some pictures that might trigger some past emotional feelings. For example the pictures where the family is shown playing with their pet, may evoke some past feelings of the reader whose dog might have had died. This might convince them to adopt a pet. On Page 565, it is mentioned that sometimes the pictures can also be misleading. I totally agree with the statement as, being different individuals we all have different perspectives. Therefore the photographs have to be carefully chosen, so that it does not mislead the people by depicting a clear cut perspective. The next important think that I consider are the charts. Charts make the information simple and easily understandable. The listeners can compare the data effectively with the past results. The pie chart shown in the book presents an effective example.

Chapter 37 talks mainly talks about the sentence structure. The various ways that the text can either bore the reader or keep him/her hooked. The book defines 4 different types of sentences. Even though we practice it in everyday life we never realized it. The words can be jumbled to produce the required effect thus appealing to the reader at a higher level. I think that the sentences in the brochure have been nicely formed, which provides easy information (one of the purposes of a brochure).

I definitely agree with on the fact that "a picture can be worth a thousand words". Pictures are visually enhancing and can bring life to boring subjects and also explanations. You mentioned using emotional pictures on your brochure, I thought was a good idea because they would bring about feelings. Using pictures that may show emotion would also help tell the story about what your brochure is about. From chapter 37 I also can relate to you in not considering sentence structure before reading this chapter. Sentence structure is essential and will make a difference in both our brochures for the better.

I also completely agree with

I also completely agree with the statement that "a picture is worth a thousand words". It is very important to select images that are both interesting and enticing. To me this is the most important part of a brochure; the design layout. A reader will only pick up a brochure by its first impression, so the visual end must be thought out carefully. It is difficult when working with a group to come to a consensus of what is eye appealing, but also a collaborative affect my open up avenues to other creative aspects. Pictures are suppose to connote the tone you want to portray. When it comes to advertising, some pictures are misleading. In this project, I don't think we have to worry about pictures conveying the wrong tone.

The basic idea of having something colorful like a picture on the brochure is undoubtedly the best way to attract an eye to it. In my opinion a real life picture or an animated design are equally good, however with the help of a group consensus one can arrive upon a decision as to what is more suitable. I also agree with the fact that different people have different perceptions for different things, and something as simple as a picture may trigger thoughts and feelings in peoples’ minds that may vary to quite a large extent. Therefore it is essential to collaborate and arrive at the right decision to choose a particular design so as to provoke the desired thought in the minds of other people

Pictures are definitely important to attract the attention of the reader and actually get them to pick up the brochure. This is the most important part of any brochure. What good is it if no one is willing to read it? However, after someone picks up the brochure, the information it provides needs to be informative and easy to read. Pictures should complement the text, not the other way around. The best way to present information is to be short and to the point. Using bullets and charts or graphs to help clearly display information are essential to this process.

I agree with what you said when you were describing the importance of the pictures, especially in our brochure. In an informative brochure, especially one that is asking people to donate time and money, pictures are important. The pictures talk to their emotions while the words talk to their reasoning. I felt that the pictures on the website were great ones to use in order to enhance the brochure. I think that it is also important that your images are not misleading. This is why I tried to use pictures that were already used by the organization and ones that I thought would not mislead any potential readers. After reading yours and other comments on sentence structure I think that our group may also have to revisit our wording throughout the brochure to make it as good as we can.

I agree

I liked how you refer the adage. "A picture is worth thousands words”. I agree that sometimes pictures can be misleading because we all have different perspectives. To tie the pictures in the article, I think depicting a clear perspective and placing the pictures near the referring parts is very important. I really liked how you evoke some past feelings of the reader by using proper pictures. Although the topic of our brochure is different from yours, our group has used the similar approach to trigger some past feelings by inserting the picture of last year’s Christmas Day event. I think it is important to focus on variety as well as conciseness. Chapter 37 was very informative in this respect. It gave detailed examples and several important principles to make sentences interesting and easily readable.
