The Christmas Day Dinner brochure was well thought out in terms of how the information was presented, the color scheme, and the use of pictures. The cover page is nicely displayed with big bold letters and a contrasting background to make it stand out. I also like the format of the volunteer form. It is very straightforward and easy to read which makes it simple for everyone. Having a green dotted border around the two pictures on the back cover defines them a lot, making it very appealing to the eye. I am a little confused as to how the brochure folds because the envelope part throws me off. Perhaps you could edit this part and make it clearer for other readers.
I can easily see how much of an affect a color brochure has versus a grayscale one. Color is definitely needed with the information conveyed because the last thing that comes to mind is dull plain colors during the Christmas season. Using different shades of gray showed me your group improvised with what you were given and made for a rather descent brochure. There seems to be too much information which causes it to look bunched up together and hard for me to read. Although it is very informative, I think narrowing the most important points down would help out. Other than that your group did an excellent job, keep up the good work.
Your color brochure is awesome. I really like the colors that you chose, they contrast very well and the font is very easy to read. The red underlined headers and backgrounds of the pictures really draws your eye to them. The pictures are good, showing kids having fun and making the reader realize how good of a time you can have if you decide to go. The only suggestion I'd make is maybe trying to fit in another picture somewhere. I'm not sure where you can fit it since you have a lot of information but maybe you can squeeze another one in somehow.
Even your gray brochure is pretty good. It is hard to make it look exciting without a lot of colors but with just the blue font on the gray background it still looks good. I don't think there is really any way to improve it since you have limited options on what color you can use. I also like your volunteer form that you have on there. It is easy to understand and the reader can just cut it off and send it in. That’s a really good idea because you are reminding people that even if they can’t make it that night they can still help out. Overall I think your brochures are very good and the only suggestion I have is putting in another picture and see how it looks, if it’s not any better than stick with what you’ve got because it is good.
I think both of your brochures are very good. Although, I do prefer the color brochure over the gray scale brochure, but sometimes budgets cannot fund color brochures. Your color brochure does a good job of using the colors in a useful way. The colors are vibrant, and bring a cheerful meaning to the brochure which is good because it will be used for Christmas. The font is also well utilized, and functions well. I love the pictures. I think they bring meaning behind the brochure, which is needed especially when asking for volunteers.
The gray-scaled brochure, is written very well and also has a good layout. One thing I do not like about it are the colors, but I understand you have no other choice. The colors here are not very cheerful and useful for a Christmas brochure. If you put the two side by side the color one sure catches your eye, but they are both written very well. There are not a lot of areas I think should be revised, due to the fact the they are both written so well. Like I said before, If I were choosing I would definetely choose the color brochure only because it helps display the event in such a joyful and seasonal way. I think the colorful brochure is more apt to get volunteers than the gray-scaled one.
We don't like the green gradient on the color version; particularly because it comes through underneath the Santa logo.
The CFRC logo also is pixilated.
The text is justified on the first page and left justified on the second page.
There's a grammar error in the "About Us" section.
The descriptions under "About Us" are somewhat redundant. Are descriptions of the programs at different locations even necessary? It seems like they don't provide useful information.
The "Questions or Comments" portion of the form should be removed.
The address on the form should be 330 Fountain Street.
"Christmas" shouldn't be possessive in the "The CFRC Christmas Day Dinner" section.
There is a superfluous comma between "food" and "preparation" in the "Volunteering for the Event" section.
The term "stationeries" in the "Donations" sections needs to be revised or removed.
Have you tried printing the grayscale version? It seems like if this was printed on plain paper, the textured background might just look like a mistake.
