Your brochure looks pretty good. The use of the blue background allows the reader to easily flow across the brochure. Your decision of picture usage is probably a must in this situation. The picture with the cat on its back definitely caught my attention. Im not sure what exactly what that is trying to do, but whatever it is, it got my attention. I thought your spacing was good as well. I thought your direction portion was clever. That is a good idea though for sure especially for those very interested but have no idea of the location. The dog side my be approaching the busy side, although I think it should be fine. You may want to condense that just a little bit. In the "make a difference" section, I think it needs to read, "make a donation OF the following supplies, instead of "make a donation FOR the following supplies." I Think it sounds better. Overall you guys have a great layout. I havent looked at the other brochures, but it looks like you definitely spent some time on it. Good luck with the contest.
Group #3 Info:
Right off the bat we didn't like the lay-out. It is hard to handle and funky. HOWEVER, we loved the picture of the kitten laying on its back and the saying above and below that picture. Again, it just makes people feel warm and fuzzy and want to help. That section is good. MISSION STATEMENT, we liked this section, too! And we absolutely LOVED the quote under the cat's picture! All of the brochures should include this statement. ABOUT US, another good section except for the staff gives presentations to schools, 4-H clubs, etc. Not our volunteers. We also loved Lauren's picture. It makes us more real and brings everything "home" for lack of a better word. HEALTH, need to take out sentence that states all of our pets have been spayed/neutered. We work on a reimbursement program. TEMPERAMENT, please remove this. It sounds snotty. ECONOMICS, 1st and 2nd sentences, good. You could then say, "You pay a nominal fee to adopt and in some cases, many of the first
year medical expenses - like spaying or neutering and vaccinations m- are already taken care of. As mentioned above, we do not have a veterinarian on staff. We use a reimbursement program for spay/neuter. MAKE A DIFFERENCE, I like the first sentence. But our biggest hurdle is still money. We are one of only a few non-profits that exist without an operating loan. So for the second sentence, we would certainly love to have more adult volunteers, but that is not the biggest hurdle. We liked the sentence after that very much. The list is tooooo long for donations. Please combine kitten/puppy chow, toys/treats/leashes and remove the single puppy chow, leashes, shampoo and flea dip and also toilet paper. (I feel weird asking for that.) FUNDRAISING, as w/everyone else, we have decided on official levels. $150 Platinum Paws Level, $100 Top Dog Level, $50 Friendly Feline Level and 0-$49 Caring Paws level. Absolutely no Breeder level. Again referring to the fact that we
are a Humane Society and people should have their animals spayed/neutered and not buy from breeders. Also, there is no free gift. We are trying to increase OUR funds. They may mail in donations or stop by or call. Lastly, under CLINTON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY, the website listing is wrong and the directions seem hard to understand.
