The start to your brochure is really good and the picture of the young girl with her pet gives a very humane feel to your brochure which immidiatly highlights the topic and content of your brochure. The colour combination of the green background with yellow highlighting on each topic makes it very bright and more apealling to the reader. Each topic in the brochure is very well explained and in detail so that any pet owner can relate to easily. At the same time the brochure gives practical solutions to problems not making it difficult for the owner to imply them. I really appreciate your inclusion of the aspect of 'litter training' of the dog as it is one of the most important aspects but one of the most neglected ones also.I also appreciate that you have given all details bulleted rather than writing everything in one whole paragraph.I think that you could have also mentioned about the services of proffesional pet trainers avilable these days as most people working have a time constraint with them.I also think that in the brochure where you give details about each attribute you can highlight the important points of each attribute maybe with a different font or with bold letters so that the reader can get to know by looking at the brochure what the important points are. for eg. in the column where you have written about changing pet food you could have highlighted the percentages and figures.Overall I think you guys did a really good job.
I thought the design was great for the topic of your brochure. The brochure showed consistency throughout the reading. The first page of your brochure is eye catching because of the cute little girl and dog. One thing I also noticed was the emotions or theme picture of the little girl brought forth. The theme was warm, loving, and happy. I thought that was a fine representation of animals and their relationship with people. The colors green and yellow throughout your brochure are also enhancing to the eye. I also thought the pictures of pets and also the people with pets was a great visual aid. The information in the brochure was interesting, and it taught me many things that I never knew about pets. The information was worded in a way that most readers could comprehend the information you were presenting. Now for improvements I thought you could try a different font and bold a lot more. The bullets are nice and maybe you all could highlight them better with a font or bolding. Overall you all did a fine job.
I liked the color scheme a lot in your brochure. I liked that the headings were in yellow borders accompanied by pictures that also had the yellow border. One thing I noticed however, was that your text within these borders tended to shift and the spacing within the border changed, i.e. some text was closer to the bottom of the border, some more to the left, etc. Other than that I liked your headings a lot and I feel they helped create a very organized brochure.
One of the other strong points were your pictures, you did a great job using pictures that helped create a warm emotional feeling, which works well for a brochure about pets. I noticed though that at least one of your pictures was really pixilated, and I would go back and look to make sure most of your photos are okay and change any of the ones that need to be.
Finally the text itself appeared to be organized really well, but I think you could incorporate some small improvements to make it even better. There were places where you text size changed quite a bit and your spacing changed noticeably. I think if you went back you could create a little more consistency throughout the text in the brochure and this would help it look even better than it already does.
Other than that, I thought your brochure looked good and had a lot of good information in it. It was very appropriate for the subject and the audience and I think you made a fantastic brochure.
After looking at your brochure and reading through it I was really impressed. The brochure was organized really well and all of the helpful information that was incorporated in the brochure had a perfect place and was organized and very easy to follow. I also liked the colors that you choose but I thought it was a little hard to read the writing with the green background. One suggestion that I would make is to either make your writing one size bigger or even better just bold it. Another suggestion I think that would really help emphasize all of the important information that you really want your audience to pay special attention to is to underline or make certain special points italics in the text. I also really enjoyed the pictures that you included in your brochure. They all really went well with the brochure and the front cover was really cute with the little girl and the puppy. I also liked how you didn’t just have animals but you had animals with their owners; that is a good idea because the brochure is about owners taking care of their animals. The headings for each section were also really good with the boxes around the text and the pictures. One little detail that I did notice though was that some of those boxes around those pictures aren’t big enough and you can see the pictures outside of the yellow box; that is just something you will just want to fix before your final draft. You did a really good job on your brochure and with just a few revisions it will be ready for the final draft! Good Job!
Group #2 Info:
Although we like the picture on the front of the brochure, we don't want to give the public the idea that we do birds or horses. We don't do either. We are mostly cats and dogs and an occasional ferret, guinea pig or hamster. We do like the use of our logo on the front down at the bottom. Opening brochure to ANIMAL ADOPTION, kitten to kittens and remove the guarantee that a pet is spayed or neutered. We do not have a vet on staff and cannot guarantee that upon adoption. We use a reimbursement program. REASONS TO ADOPT, #4. please check spelling in there. Is breads right? 5. Our adoption fees don't necessarily cover the entire first year of medical fees and does not include spay/neuter. Under COST INVOLVED, please add ($60 applied to spay/neuter) where the cost of the dog is listed. Also we would like to change the distemper & parvo vaccination to Canine Vaccination (DA2PPvL). With the bordatella vaccination we would like to add (Intra-Trac 3) and with worming
add (Pyrantel). These are the actual vaccines and worming medications the animals are getting. For cats, again we would like to include ($40 applied to spay/neuter). Change distemper vacc to Feline vaccine (Eclipse 4), add worming (Pyrantel). In the next section under CLINTON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY, under the 1st bullet, please change the last work from volunteers to donations. We would like the last bullet point removed. Also, please remove the entire section on WILDLIFE CONTROL. That is not our first and foremost responsibility as there are many private businesses that do that for a living. Something else in that area would be great....like "Please have you pet spayed or neutered." VOLUNTEER HELP, please change first bullet to Foster Family. MONETARY, please remove our P.O. Box #. We'll still get the donation at the other address. PASS THE MESSAGE (we liked this section and the title of it) under the first bullet, the wording is not right. MAKE A DONATION,
that is an old wish list, please keep the kitten/puppy chow, but replace the rest with Bleach, HE Laundry detergent, 39 gallon trash bags and Postage Stamps. THE LEVEL OF FUNDING, We liked the idea you were trying to convey. However, no birds. Please use$150 Platinum Paws Level, $100 Top Dog, $50 Friendly Feline and $0-49 Caring Paws. We also liked that you included the GoodSearch.com and the used ink cartridges. Sorry, the map stinks. It just doesn't show clearly enough where we are. Please use physical directions. Also, where we took out the wildlife section, we could expand more on the ability to view our animals at cchumane.petfinder.org. Just a thought. Remember that we have cats too. All the pictures inside the brochure are of dogs.
Group #2 Care:
Thought the overall brochure is great! Very detailed and to both cats and dogs. Starting w/the front, maybe we could have our phone, address and e-mail under our name. Looks good until we get to LITTERBOX TRAINING. That area needs expanded. Most of our cats that get returned, do so because the new owner screwed up. What you have written there so far is great! Go with it. Talk about multiple litterboxes and how long you should keep your animal in that small room. Tell them that until the cat us fully using the litterbox that when they are away or asleep, the cat still needs to be confined. This is especially true for kittens until they are completely trained. They're playful, they forget and a house is huge if you are that tiny. For kittens, they also need to place the kitten back in the litterbox every 30 minutes or so until they know where it is and will go there even when busy at play. COLD WEATHER TIPS, the only thing I would add is that an animal outside
needs some source of non-frozen H20 at all times. Snow or licking ice is not an adequate supply of water during the winter months. WARM WEATHER TIPS, good, but also need a bullet with pets in cars. Courtesy of ASPCA studies show that it only takes ten minutes on an 85 degree day for the inside of a car to reach 102 degrees even w/the windows cracked. Parking in the shade also does not offer enough protection from overheating. VACCINATING YOUR PETS, please check spelling in the heading. There are 2 C's in vaccinating. We do not like this section. This is too much information for the average Joe, not that we are assuming people are dumb. Also, this information is not concurrent with the veternarians we use most. Some information here is good but and maybe just make it more specific to what HSCC does. Please remove the TO in WHY TO SPAY AND NEUTER. THE COST OF A PET, it is not good idea to have your pet spayed or neutered. IT IS
ESSENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Humane societies exist because people do not spay or neuter. That needs to be spelled out clearly in this section. FLEA CONTROL, please remove the section with recommendations for prevention. We do NOT recommend any of those. Please advise that each owner check with their veterinarian for a protocol that will work best for your pet. Some pets need frontline for ticks, some don't. Too much flea shampoo, powder, sprays and over the counter products can cause seizures in many animals. That was common in the spring at the vet clinic where I worked that people would give a flea bath, spray the animal and put on a flea collar only to have that animal (especially kittens) start seizing later. Over the counter flea products are not recommended. Finally, we really liked the 10 WAS TO CARE FOR YOUR PET. We strongly encourage people to take their animal to training classes, especially puppies. Most animals surrendered are done so
because the owner never took the time to actually train their animals. On #9, could that say "Set aside time to exercise and play with your pet." Exercise is important for pets, too. And #10....FABULOUS! Would only add our contact info and please view our animals at www.cchumane.petfinder.org.
