5:00 Appeal to Emotions: +

I believe that our brochure will appeal to the emotions of our target audience. By incorporating the pictures of the underprivileged children that our event helps, the reader can see first hand how his or her volunteer involvement can make a difference. Also, the text explains the event, further drawing the audience into the good feeling they would have about themselves if they were to volunteer.

4:00 Be Professional: +

I think our brochure achieves being just the right degree of “professional” for this particular event. The overall mood of the event is very lighthearted and is aimed toward helping bring smiles to the faces of children, and therefore I think that the brochure advertising the even has to take on the same spirit. If it reads too dryly, or uses a conservative color scheme it will not appeal to our audience. I think we achieved the right amount of professionalism with our brochure.

3:40 Be Personal: +

Our brochure does a good job connecting personally to our audience. We are trying to draw in volunteers for a great cause, and by showing the pictures of children enjoying themselves at this event, we hope remind them of their own great times during Christmas as a child. Once the reader can connect with this very personal experience, it might motivate them to help out and create that same experience for a child who has not yet had the chance to enjoy Christmas the way so many of us take for granted.

3:00 Achieve Readability: +

Our project includes bullets and colored headings to organize the ideas on each panel and draw the attention of the reader to important information. We have achieved readability.

2:30 Speak the Language: +

Because our brochure topic is pretty self explanatory and simple, complex language was not necessary for our brochure. We are just fine in this area.

2.00 Lead With Benefits: +

I think our group achieves this in our brochure. We have one goal: Get the reader to volunteer. We explain the benefits (good feelings, etc.) that the volunteer will feel if they help out the kids that our Christmas Day Dinner event sponsors.

1:20 Have a Single Message: +

Our group’s single message is: Volunteer at CFRC for the Christmas Day Dinner event.

0:50 Focus on a Single Product or Service: +

Our single “product” we are offering is a volunteer opportunity. While we do include a checklist of positions under that “volunteer opportunity” this is just to clarify the exact job the volunteer wants to be involved with.

0:20 Make an Action Call: +

At the top of page 2, panel 2 of our brochure, we specifically tell the reader to “Show your holiday spirit and give back to the community!”

***Overall, I think our group did an excellent job with our brochure because it stands up to the “5 Minute Brochure Design Crash Test”.

Regarding our brochure, I also graded every category with a + since I felt we did a great job with the assigment. I agree that we have achieved the right level of professionalism with our brochure since we do not use too much color and we don't fill the brochure with too much images. As you said in your reading response, we transmit a lighthearted image of CFRC's christmas dinner event towards the audience which will choose if they assist or if the volunteer for the event. I also think that we speak the perfect language in the brochure since we only needed to keep things simple. As you pointed out, we also transmit the single message to the audience which is to volunteer for CFRC's christmas event. We improved the brochure a lot from the first draft to the second one, I think we might me able to improve it even more for the final draft due next week.

Our brochure does indeed

Our brochure does indeed appeal to the emotions of an audience. We incorporated not only the christmas theme with clipart and logos, but also used christmas lingo and past event photos. The is a great method to draw in an audience because it puts the audience in the christmas spirit, which is a time of giving and sharing. I like our choice of design for the brochure. It has the right amount of color that is not overbearing and looks very professional. If there is one thing that I would now change for the final draft, I would add two more photos of past events. One on each page that is missing a visual. Although, we did summarize a good portion of the brochure, it may still look like a lot of information that can be a bore to the eye. Adding the photos will enhance our document more and give a good break between sections.
