Appeal to emotions: (+) I think we did an excellent job in this part we describe a situation in which a person can easily relate to. See on the brochure a note for punishment as the example.
Be Professional: (+) I think our brochure does look professional with good quality pictures and graphics.
Be Personal: (+) In this area we did an excellent job, we target our audience, portraying situations in which the audience can identify itself.
Achieve Readability: (+) Our brochure is divided into sections with titles that make it easy for the reader to get to the section they desire to read first. The titles, the columns and the pictures allow the reader to quickly skim through the brochure.
Speak the language: (+) The language was simple and concise.
Lead with Benefits: (+) Again I believe that by having the reader identify with a particular situation it is easier to explain the benefits of the program. We try through subtitles to explain the benefits of vaccines, prevention, and healthcare.
Have a Single Message: (+) I think that even though we have several subtitles, overall we carry a single message.
Focus on a Product or Service: (+) I believe we definitely focus on our service, explain the procedures and benefits of having our service.
Make an Action Call: (-) We can improve in this section, we have the contact information but we don’t have it really big or flashy, nor any detachable item that they can clip or store in a visible place.
Add Your Score: The totals for our brochure ended up being eight plusses and one minuses, which means I think it would not be trashed!!

response

After reading your response to the five minute test I would agree with all of your marks. In the pet care brochure I thought the group did a great job appealing to the emotions of the audience. The bright and vivid colors help add to peoples excitement of having a new pet. I also think that the pet brochure did a good job of making it personal to where the audience could identify with it. After appealing to the emotions of people the brochure goes right into the benefits of adopting a pet from the Human Society. Overall I think that the group has a very good start on both brochures but they could both use some work before we turn them in.

group comment

I don’t think I would have scored the same for both brochures. From what I read in the first line, you picked the pet care brochure for this analysis. The thing I had problems the most with that brochure was achieving readability. It was very hard to align everything into a proper format and adding bullets were things were too crowded when you have such a limited space and that much information. For that reason I scored a (-) in it but still think it can achieve perfection. As long as the action call, I’m not sure we can be more active since those are recommendations from the organization to the pet owners and therefore we have to set things in a different way. I do like the brochure and I hope we can get it to be perfect for next week.

I think that our group has got a very good start on both of these brochures. I think the humane society brochure is in a bit better shape then the pet care. This may be becasue i worked primarily on the pet care brochure and tend to be harder on things I have written. I think the design for both seems very appealing to the eye and will hopefully grab and maintain the readers attention. I think that the pet care brochure goes into a few spots where there is just too many words and it gets a bit tricky to follow and read. I hope this last week will get our revisions all completed and ready to submit the final document.
