I think the crash test will be helpful when we revise our brochure. The crash test was like a checklist and can only improve our brochure.
Appeal to emotions (+)
I think we did a great job trying to show emotion throughout our Christmas brochure. The pictures really showed emotion, such as being happy. At most Christmas events, the goal is for everyone to be happy, and we were able to show that. I also thought the color theme went along with Christmas and that helped.
Be Professional (-)
I thought our brochure was somewhat professional. Our pictures were mainly photos of people, which made are brochure realistic to the reader. The pictures were not very clear and them look cheap and not professional. We didn’t use clip art that much, just a few times.
Be Personal (+)
We were personal in our brochure by just trying to obtain the audience interest in Christmas. I really think the part of our brochure asking the audience to volunteer was personal.
Achieve Readability (+)
Our brochure is full of bullets, boxes, and other graphics. We used those to highlight a lot important things, and it also increased space.
Speak the language (+)
The language used in the brochure was meant for everyone to read. I think our choices of words were less technical, and most people could comprehend our brochure.
Lead with Benefits (-)
I don’t think we established any benefits of volunteering in the brochure.
Have a Single Message (+)
The single message is that we need volunteers and we adhere to this throughout our brochure.
Focus on a Product or Service (+)
We focused on the service, which is important for the future volunteers.
Make an Action Call (-)
I think to finish the brochure we need to add an action call and this will help us tremendously.
Score: I had 6 positives, and 3 negatives. With a few adjustments with our brochure will be just fine. The crash test really helped me notice our shortcomings.

Keeli, we both thought the same things about our brochure all of the positives were in the same categories and same with the negatives! It truly shows in what areas our brochure needs work! First of all I agree our brochure isn't too professional and as a group we need to think of ways to make it more professional. The main problem is that we don't have much to work with such as using Microsoft Publisher and the pictures that were given to us to use were very low quality. So therefore we have to come up with way to make our brochure more professional before the final draft. Also we have to add a section to our brochure that talks about the benefits of volunteering. I think that is essential and we will just have to find space for it in our brochure. The last negative that we had about our brochure is making a call to action; we didn't have a direct call to action in our brochure. I never really thought about this in our brochure but it is a good idea and I think it is something we should add! After we make these few changes I really think it will be ready to go!

Keeli, after taking out the Trash test we both came out with the same results i also had six positives and three negatives! I think it really highlights the areas in which our brochure needs to improve! The brochure wasnt all that proffesional and the whole group has to put extra effort to make it proffesional. I suggest we add some new sections to our brochure which i think is very important and needs to be kept in mind for the future. Another problem is that the softwarewe used was not correct we should use adobe photoshop in future and there was a problem using these low quality pictures. It will be a good idea if we look into all these problems and make the neccesary changes. I think after these changes our brochure would look really good.
