This 5 Minute Brochure Trash Test Reading is a great asset to evaluate our brochure before submitting the final draft.
5:00 Appeal to Emotions - My group's brochure definitely strikes the chord of reminiscinse of memorable christmas's celebrated with family and friends. The attempt of the brochure is to appeal to the public to continue the spirit of Christmas by volunteering their time or donating money or clothes. By sharing either your time or financial support benefits not only the CFRC, but also garners personal satisfaction by giving of one's self.
4:00 Be Professional - I believe our brochure looks very professional. The design layout is very effective for communicating our message to the public. We used appropriate visuals to appeal the public and the right amount of color applicable to the Christmas season. However, I feel that we need to add a couple more visuals to the pages that lack images.
3:40 Be Personal - Our brochure relates personally to the public by offering them to participate and volunteer, a home cooked meal, and warm conversation. This opportunity encourages the community to come together and enjoy dinner in the spirit of Christmas.
3:00 Achieve Readability - The brochure is very pleasing to eye and not overly crowded with information and visuals. To achieve readability, we used easy to understand vocabulary, short and direct sentences, and bulleted points of important facts.
2:30 Speak the Language - The language used in this brochure is very simple and understandable. In constructing the brochure, a variety of sentence structures were implemented. The language is direct and to the point.
2:00 Lead with Benefits - This brochure features an opportunity for an individual to join in the Christmas celebration at the CFRC. The public is offered to volunteer and give of their time, enjoy a Christmas dinner with the community, participate with Christmas week events, and/or financial support. The brochure appeals to the public in multiple ways to get involved with their tasks.
1:20 Having a Single Message - In regards to our message, in numerous ways we encourage the public to get involved with the Christmas event. We reflect upon the winter season of staying warm, gathering together, and enjoying a meal in the Christmas spirit.
0:50 Focus on a Product or Service - The objective of my group's brochure was to enhance the CFRC's Christmas Event of encouraging the public to volunteer and was very well demonstrated throughout the document. Visually the brochure is appealing, sentences are concise, and the content is informational. All of these are focused on theme and objective of the brochure.
0:20 Make an Action Call - On two pages of my group's brochure an address is listed with the phone number and fax number for added additional information and use.

I would agree with everything you have listed. I agree that our brochure is very professional but could use one or two more pictures. I guess one thing we may need to address is the part on making an action call. I thought it would be self explanatory since it is a volunteer thing, but maybe we do need to try and persuade people a little more to help. Convincing these people should not be very difficult since I would assume they have an interest in this event. I think we finally achieved readability after we revised that Christmas Dinner Day portion as well as the volunteer information. Before we did the revision though, it was a bit wordy. I think our group has really come together and has faith in one another to do everything.

I also agree that we did a great job on the brochure since we covered all of the points from this 5 minute brochure trash test reading. We achieve a great level of professionalism and at the same time transmitting a Christmas feeling to the audience. I agree that our brochure relates personally to the audience since they can identify themselves to the event when volunteering for it, especially since it happens during the holidays. We use a very good language in the brochure since we keep it simple. Because of this, we do a great job in transmitting the single message towards the audience, which focuses on volunteering and assisting CFRC's Christmas event. I also agree that we should probably add another visual to our brochure to make it look like it does not have text all over it, which bores the reader. This could make our brochure more attractive which will improve our design. Overall, we did a great job I look forward on working on the final draft.

I agree with all of the points you made in this post. I think our group pullled together very well for the second draft. We accomplished everything we needed to and had no problem agreeing on what we should change about our brochure, and who should make the changes. After looking at the brochure closely, I do think that we might benefit from an additional image. We could possibly put something at the top of the middle section on the second page to off set the picture on the left section. I also think that we should include a background color like the original design you started had. I thought it gave a nice look to the brochure. I look forward to seeing what the final draft will look like!
