5:00 Appeal to Emotions: +
I think our brochure does transmit feelings and emotions along with its message. The combination of its design and text does reach out towards the reader making him comfortable to volunteer or assist CFRC’s Christmas Dinner.
4:00 Be Professional: +
Even though our brochure is designed to give a Christmas feeling to the reader, I think we have conserved professionalism through its design. We do not fill the brochure with excess color and images, although I feel we could add one or two images in certain panels.
3:40 Be Personal: +
The brochure offers lots of opportunities to the reader; they can definitely feel identified with some of the activities mentioned in the brochure.
3:00 Achieve Readability: +
We managed to increase and summarize the excess text we had on the first draft; I think our readability level has improved for our second draft. Our text is clearer and larger which is pleasing for the eye.
2:30 Speak the Language: +
I think the brochure is written in a clear language that is soothing to the reader. In some part we use some Christmas language which everybody understands since this sets the “joyful” tone of our brochure.
2:00 Lead with Benefits: +
Our brochure offers lots of volunteer opportunities to the reader which are all explained clearly and in detail to keep the reader well informed of CFRC’s event.
1:20 Have a Single Message: +
The brochure only explains the dinner event and then goes on about the volunteer opportunities anybody can apply for. This does not confuse the audience since it the only message sent out and it encourages them to volunteer.
0:50 Focus on a Product or Service: +
The whole brochure focuses on encouraging and explaining to the audience the event CFRC is offering on Christmas Day. All throughout the brochure we explain in detail the event as well as the opportunities the reader has to help to carry it out.
0:20 Make an Action Call: +
We are very clear on what to do if the reader accepts to volunteer for the event. We give CFRC’s contact information in two different panels of the brochure in case the reader wishes to contact them.

Response
I definitely agree with your 4:00 Professional comment. I would say that our brochure looks very acceptable as it is right now, but the use of more real pictures may benefit us. When I revised the brochure from the other section of this class, they had an entire background color. It looked great for what they were trying to use it for, but I honestly think the clarity we have obtained with ours works better. Your 1:20 is very true. The only message we are sending to the reader is about the dinner and other related events happening that day. We are not conveying any irrelevant messages in our brochure. We have a Christmas Dinner and we need help. We offer a list duties and explanations of those duties of how to help. Also, if you cannot attend but still want to help, we show the reader how to take advantage of that. I also agree with your Make an Action Call comment. There should not be any confusion as to what it is that we are asking for. If there is any issues, we have phone numbers and contact information listed for that purpose.
I agree with all of your
I agree with all of your responses. I feel we have done a great job incorporating these requirements into the construction of our brochure. In regards to being professional, our brochure clearly portrays the role and appearance of a business like document. I am glad that we did not incorporate an over abundance of Christmas colors and clipart because it would have lessened the professionalism and made it less appealing. I feel the second draft was a success and definitely improved in terms of readability, language, and focus. Summarizing the volunteer tasks, adding more christmas lingo to the dinner day event paragraph, and pictures improved the overall image of the christmas event.
reading response week 7
this was a really long reading response. Not sure how to comment on it.
Agree
I also agree with the majority of your reactions to our brochure. I stand behind our group's decision to stay on the professional side of things and not get too crazy with Christmas colors and cheap looking clip art. I do think that our brochure could possibly benefit from a neutral background color. We seem to be getting a strong reaction in our peer edits about our lack of a background color. Our second round of comments should help us polish our last draft to the best of our abilities. The only thing you suggest that I do not agree with is adding more pictures. In my opinion, the way we have our brochure right now is the most concise and straight forward design.
