Danny Merritt and the frontend coders Mk III

Doomsday Forte — Fri, 11/28/2008 - 23:29

Awww, I'm only partially sad that my wonderful image-based design didn't work out.

Week_14

Roachel — Fri, 11/28/2008 - 20:27

The documents and testing group is still waiting on getting the code so we can begin creating the change document. Even though we cannot start on the change document, we have talked about how we want to organize the document, that way we will know where to get started once we do get the code. It was hard to find something to work on this week in order to contribute to this project since we are at a bit of a stand still. However, I did email the psychology club president at Purdue to see if she could have some of her members take the volunteers section's survey based on the new website.

Alex Lewis Week 14 Doc & Test

NEWMAN — Fri, 11/28/2008 - 19:24

For the documents and testing group this week has been extremely slow. The design plan is finished until we get a final website that will allow us to create the final plan that fits our exact website. As soon as we return from the week break we will meet with the coding teams, so that we can discuss a change document. From what I understand from the coding teams we will discuss in the document how to change the overall body of the text and we will include how the board can post, edit, and delete documents from the website.

Design: Week 14

cechambe — Fri, 11/28/2008 - 19:14

This week for the design team was kind of slow because of break. We only had Monday to meet. So Monday we went through the thirty or so odd pictures and discussed what needed to be changed in order for them to work on the website. Some common problems for the pictures we have include some of them being out of focus causing fuzziness and blurring. Some of the pictures would obviously need cropping as well. This is a definite must for many of the pictures because they either have inappropriate material in them (such as beer signs and such) or a lot of empty and unneeded space.

Due to Thanksgiving break this week was notably less productive than others during the course of this project. Due to a lack of progress of the front-end coding team we were unable to begin work on a change document or make any real adjustments to the design plan. I spent Wednesday reeducating myself on coding in HTML and CSS after being approached by one of the members of the organization team about helping the front-end team get up to speed.

week 14: design

lefty150 — Thu, 11/27/2008 - 20:27

Last weekend, I received the photos that Tyler sent to the design team. There were thirty photos to look through. I picked out fifteen photos that I thought would work well on the website. The photos that I chose were the photos that showed group activities. I also picked out a few good shots of some individual kids.

Backend, Week 14

turtle power! — Thu, 11/27/2008 - 03:00

Work has continued as usual, we have started a generic CSS-based template to work from, then we can always implement the front-end coder's work into ours and adapt the new layout. So far over break we have been able to merge the job applications and the manage content areas and will get the directory browsing running tomorrow, Thursday.

Week 14

s5m32l3 — Wed, 11/26/2008 - 16:19

This week we were only in class on Monday, so there wasn’t as much progress as the previous weeks. We first started off talking to the class to see where everyone is at on the project and if anyone needed any help. Again, each of us divided to our individual teams. I first went with the design team to figure out where they are. They are still working on the image selection for the site. Once they choose those they will crop them to get them ready to place in the site.

week 14

PyroJing — Wed, 11/26/2008 - 09:58

Monday we decided to switch the entire layout from our planned use of tables to pure a CSS layout. Danny had come up with a image based layout, but that is not a good way of laying out a website. I was given a quick tutorial on CSS driven layout. And now I will contact Danny and Gary about helping create this CSS based website, and upload it to the servers for the other teams. With an external CSS page, it will be easy to create the rest of the pages because of the forced styles.

Neely Misner: Week 14 Update

boiler16 — Mon, 11/24/2008 - 11:45

This week is very, very slow for the documents and testing team. We are finished with the design plan for now until the website has a main framework. We are also waiting on the framework in order to complete the change document. We will be meeting with backend at the first of next week to plan the change document. I believe we will be discussing how to change images, body text, and how to add and delete documents on the BOD page. This should not be too difficult based on what we know the backend has worked on so far.
