Macko Work Blog Week 8

During Week 8, I worked very hard to produce a final draft of our brochure. I began the week by finishing the Group Activity Report and submitted it on Sunday. I then sent out an email to our group outlining the plan for the week. I was in charge of finishing the Caring For Your Pet brochure. I received Pratyush’s text and edited it for a few minor errors. I printed off a copy of our second draft and edited the necessary areas. I then used this to make changes for our final draft. I utilized the instructor comments to fix errors such as those in grammar.

Macko Work Blog Week 7

During Week 7, I have worked on revising our brochures. We started the week having feedback on our first draft. I sent out an email to all members with what we had to change. I then gave directions on who should complete what. I emailed individually with Pratyush to discuss our caring for your pet brochure. I talked with him to make sure all parts are original. I then set to work revising our brochure. I edited a few minor places that I had written. I also redesigned the brochure. I switched the colors and the headings to make it more professional and easier to read.

Reading Response 7

I think that we are off to a great start on our brochures. After doing the 5 Minute Brochure Design Trash Test, here are our results:

Appeal to Emotions: +

Our general information brochures appeals to people’s emotions through philanthropic efforts. People see the information and how to volunteer and help. The brochure seeks people to help save the lives of pets.

Be Professional: +

Macko Work Blog Week 6

As week 6 comes to a close, we have finished our first draft of both the general information brochure and caring for your pet brochure. As group leader, I sent out email reminders about everything that was due. I also made sure that everyone was clear what they had to finish. I helped answer questions. Beginning last weekend, I began communicating extensively with Pratyush since the two of us were in charge of the caring for your pet brochure. I emailed him with the topics and then allowed him to choose which subset he would like to write about.

Reading Response 6

The information found in The Thompson Handbook is very useful. I really found Chapter 24 to be useful because it gave a lot of good information on visuals. The details really helped me learn how to effectively use a visual aid. I also liked the information on different kinds of visual aids. This will really help me when I am trying to think of new ways to incorporate visuals, such as various charts and diagrams.

Macko Work Blog Week #5

As Week 5 comes to a close, our group is continuing to work hard to prepare for our service learning project. After learning my group members, I quickly emailed them to introduce myself. I have continued to write informative emails all week to update them with what is happening. I have done a good job responding to emails in a timely manner. My emails included details on how to organize the group and asking for volunteers for the different aspects of the project. After continuing correspondence, I have assumed the role of the group leader.
