English 420Y - Business Writing Online

1. My work experience has been limited, but benefitial. I have worked for the past two summers at a United moving company in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Last summer I was just being introduced to the world of moving and didn't have too many responsibilities. I just helped wherever was needed. My officaial title was "assistant coordinator," but that basically ment that I did what the coordinators needed. My supervisor was Cathy Gooderham. This summer I have an internship at the same company.

After completing this first reading for the class, one thing was apparent to me. I liked that this class focuses on the continued importance of quality writing. It doesn't show us how to find a job (resumes, cover letters, etc.), but it also will teach us how to write once we obtain a job (memos, white pages, etc.). Although some of these topics I have learned through different writing and career focused classes, others are new to me. I expect to be challenged to perfect my resume and learn how to write a quality cover letter.
