This research blog will give a summary of information found on the third party review of the D-link DIR-615 router by PC world. The review is online, found at http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/networking_wireless_voip/d-link/dir.... In their tests of this router they were able to establish that it averages 5.62 MBps while one meter away and it could average 4.39 MBps while thirteen meters away with two double-brick walls as an obstacle. They also found that the router allowed for two different computers to properly stream video from the same file server at the same time without problems. In a distance test, they were able to stream video up to twenty meters away.
On the other end of the spectrum, it was found by PC world that there is a confusing setup for the web filters. The router “has provision for restricting the Internet access and logging the Web access of any clients that are connected to the router” as said in the article. The problem is that it must be set up from two separate web pages.
This article also goes into depth when comparing the price of the router to other similar products saying that the D-link is “a relatively inexpensive option.” Since it has been more than two years since the article was released the price has dropped even lower, taking into account the transfer of Australian dollars to U.S. dollars. Cost, coupled with the good wireless signal and easy installation had PC world giving the product four out of five stars as a rating meaning it is “Recommended”.
