This week I finished up the last two of my three research blogs. In the first, I researched the manufacturer’s website for use of the specifications of the D-link router. Things such as firewalls, size, and warranty information were found. The second article that I used was an online review of the router by PC world. The reviewer is a third party and put the item through various functionality tests. I plan to use most of the information given. Specifically they give information on the speeds of transfer depending on how far away a computer is from the wireless router. They also employed brick walls as obstacles for the signal in their speed tests. Another main point that was tested in that article was the setup of the security options of the router. They point out one of the flaws in that it takes multiple pages to set up a secure network option which can make the process more cumbersome and confusing. On a separate note, both research pages gave good pictures that I have noted for possible use in the project.
I also finished up my thumbnail early this week so that I could spend more time on the research. The thumbnail I presented had a sidebar on the right side. I don’t think it will be employed in our project but I thought it was a different look that may be applicable in the future. Lastly, I completed feedback on my group member’s thumbnails today. We decided ahead of time on how to go about the group thumb which made my review easier. I simple pointed out the comments that I made in the meeting on the blog of the respective group member’s thumbnail.
