English 421Y: Technical Writing Online

This week was mainly devoted to research. I did a lot of searching to find a few different types of wind turbines and ended up using three of them on my research blogs. I even watched some video clips about them being used by famous people. I saw that Jay Leno was putting one of them on top of his garage. I thought was good because Jay can afford all the electricity he wants but he would rather “go green” by using solar, as well as wind power. I found that with the combination of the two he doesn’t even use any electricity from the grid most of the year. It seems like it takes a while to find the right sources because some of them have false information. After I find a source I feel is credible I look farther into detail and try to find reviews to make sure it actually works well. One that I found which had outlandish claims ended up being a scam, so I’m glad I looked into it and didn’t just add it to the list. I also spent some time this week working on the thumbnail of our whitepaper. Mine wasn’t as good as the rest of the ones in my group so we will have to decide which one to use. After completing the thumbnail I then started reviewing my partners completed the thumbnail reviewing assignment.
